I've had many piercings, possibly even more then any 16 year old girl should have. Some include both sides of my lip, my nose, tongue, monroe, belly button, bottom belly button and multiple ear piercings. But i think my most favorite would be my tragus piercing.I had wanted it for about a year but every time my parents actually gave me the 'okay', I would chicken out. The thought of something going through such a thick part of cartilage just scared the living crap out of me. I read so many experiences on BME but was still kind of scared only because people told me my nose piercing wouldn't hurt and that was my absolute worse! I called about a dozen places in my area and only found two that did the piercing. I decided to go to American Tattoo about 5 minutes away from my house because i have heard nothing but great things about them and how clean they are. Cleanliness is very important to me. I've had some nasty infection from piercings after i had completely done everything i was supposed to with them.
At A Glance Author Megan Contact meganlynnx@aim.com When It just happened Artist Rob Smith Studio American Tattoo Location Baltimore Maryland I had planned to go with my mom, my best friend and her mom as well. She also wanted to get a piercing but at the last minute she chickened out so I set a day, Sunday April 29th, and me and my mom headed down to American Tattoo. The whole ride there I kept thinking of what could go wrong, what happens if he pierces it wrong, what if my body rejects it. And at the same time i kept thinking its going to be so cute, i cant wait to have it!
We arrived and parked, i was practically shaking. We went inside and I said I was there to get a tragus piercing. The guy at the front desk [I didn't catch his name] was really nice and told me that its just a lot of pressure and that I would be fine. My mom signed a few papers and paid the $50 and he told me there was about a 10 minute wait. I said that was fine because I was still pretty nervous but anxious to get it done and see the new shiny piece of metal in my tragus. He was on the computer behind the desk and proceeded to ask me "how do you spell yeah" so i replied with " y e a h " he said "I should of known that" I just laughed. He was really friendly, and cute i might add.
The 10 minutes was up and he lead me to the back room where i then met the guy who would be piercing me. His name was Rob Smith. He was very professional and made me feel so much more better about getting it done. He explained a lot of shops don't do the piercing because their not sure of what their doing but he has done plenty of hasn't had any problems. He told me to have a seat on the dentist like chair [which was kind of creepy] and told me to turn my head. After putting gloves on he cleaned the area and marked it. I checked the marking and it was great. He clamped it and took the needle out of the packaging. He told me to take a deep breath in and let it out. Before I even let it out the needle was through. I couldn't believe it. WHY had I been so scared to get this done before? It was NOTHING. In fact, my nose piercing hurt worse. There was a lot of pressure but absolutely nothing un-bearable. He slipped a stainless steel 16g hoop in and told me i was done and to have a look. It looked amazing, i was so happy! He then went over aftercare instructions. He told me to clean it about 3 times a day but to keep my hands off of it. He gave me a bottle of "h 2 ocean" as well as a little bag of sea salt & I thanked him and was on my way.
It has been a day since I got my piercing and I still can't stop looking in the mirror at it. Im keeping it clean and it really doesn't hurt that much at all. I had no problems sleeping it on last night. Although i keep forgetting about it and putting the phone up to my ear and hitting it but even that doesn't hurt too bad.
Anyone looking to get a tragus piercing should go for it. It isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be but everyone is different. One person's pain could be another person's pleasure. Im so happy i went through with it and I can't wait until it is completely healed so I can change it to something cute. HAPPY PIERCINGS!
