I have a few ear piercings and when my friend decided she wanted to get a scaffold piercing done, I jumped at the chance to go as moral support,( I had decided a few weeks earlier that I wanted a new piercing) and hopefully get a new one.

The day of getting pierced had arrived and after being picked up by my friend we went into Manchester into my usual piercing studio to get pierced I had nervous tummy by then and was excited at the prospect of being pierced. Friend chose her piercing and while I was waiting I enquired to if they did transverse lobes, unfortunately they didn't have a piercer working that did them. I was heavily disappointed, but didn't show it (besides it was my own fault for not ringing in advance to check that they did it) and explained to the girl on the till I'd had everything I wanted done, so I decided to save getting pierced for another day.
After having a look at a couple of studios (that I didn't like for reasons unknown to me) I decided to email a studio closer to home, that had been open for a year or so to see if they did the transverse lobe piercing. After receiving a positive reply I went down to the studio for a look round and to get my ear measured for a barbell. The first thing that greeted me when I walked in was the smell of cleanliness and a really relaxed and chilled out atmosphere, instantly felt at home there.
Gavin explained the procedures and the types of transverse lobe piercing that were around, to which I then said I wanted a horizontal lobe, rather than a transverse bar through a stretched lobe. I was measured up for my bar then was told that Gavin would contact me when the rainbow titanium bar id chose had arrived.
After about a week I received an email to say, my bar had been delivered and that I could go in at anytime for my new metal! Woohoo. I arranged to go in the following week to get it done yay! I was finally getting my new piercing, I felt nervous and excited at the same time like I always do in anticipation of getting a new piercing. I told my mum I was getting a new piercing the following week; she looked at me as if to say another one? ( she doesn't like any of my piercings) but didn't say anything to try and put me off, she gave that up years ago as it falls on deaf ears.
The big day finally arrived, having told my workmates I was getting it done so there was no way I was going to back down and not have it done even though they didn't seem as enthusiastic about piercing as I am, but at the end of the day it is my body and I can decorate it how I please. As I walked to the bus stop to go to the shop my nervous tummy started again, I realised that I hadn't eaten in ages so had to eat as soon as I got off the bus, which I did, walked round for a while to digest food and try to calm the butterflies whizzing around in my stomach, took a deep breath then walked into the shop, there I was about to get my 13th piercing (unlucky for some they may say but I'm not superstitious at all and am fine about that number) said hello to Gavin who re-measured my ear again to get measurements and places right, explained that the ball at the exit part of piercing would virtually be touching my face, I assured him that it was fine, so he went to autoclave the bar and set up the studio ready for piercing me.
I had relaxed a little, and was doing breathing exercises to calm me down more, and by the time Gavin was ready for me I was totally relaxed and looking forward to getting pierced again.
I stood in front of a huge mirror as Gavin explained what he meant about the bar almost touching my face, and he said that he was using a lot bigger bar than needed to allow for any swelling, (he'd seen a lot of sights where a the piercest didn't use a big enough bar so wasn't taking any chances) which was fine by me. Gav said that he'd change the bar over to either a smaller barbell or a bananabell in a few weeks time, when it had had enough time to settle down.
I sat down in the chair and took the ring and bar in my lobes out, after putting black latex gloves on Gavin cleaned my ear and marked out where he was going to pierce and checked that it was where I wanted, which I confirmed. Felt a bit of pressure as he clamped my ear so started breathing exercises again, I told him to pierce when ready and closed eyes. I can't say it wasn't painful; it was more stingy than anything, as soon as I felt the pain, the needle was through and the bar had been passed through just needed the ball screwing onto the end. Was bleeding a little by then, so as Gav stemmed the flow I asked him how many transverse lobes he had done, which he replied I was his first transverse lobe but had done almost every other piercing u can think of!
It shows not many people in the UK have it done! When the bleeding had stopped he screwed the ball on and told me the after care procedure, paid my money of £30 which included him changing the bar to a smaller one in a few weeks.
Went home and showed it to mum who showed her displease, but I like it
I clean it twice a day in a solution of ¼ teaspoon of rock salt (not table salt) and boiled water, I try to leave it alone as much as possible. And a week on its doing fine and i've been able to sleep on it since the very first night yay! I will post pics to BME as soon as it's healed a little more so keep your eye out for it
