When A year ago
OK. So this is my crazy ear piercing experience!! WELL. My whole life I have been kind of straight edge. My mom passed away and my dad is really strict, which is understandable, so doing a piercing myself was a huge step for me.

I was never allowed to have anything pierced, but my dad did eventually give in to the idea of me getting my ears pierced so my grandmother took me in the 7th grade as a birthday present. It didn't really hurt at all. When my ears were being done it was like, an instant addiction. After that I knew that I wanted my second holes done. Every once in a while I would try to build up the courage to do it myself, but I'm a pussy when it comes to pain, and the thought of how my dad would react if he saw scared me.

One night about a year ago I decided that I was not going to delay it any more and just DO IT. I wanted it bad enough, that nothing would stop me. I talked to my friend who pierced herself all the time and she told me exactly what to do. I was actually going to ask her to do it, but there was no time where we could meet up. That night I went down to the kitchen to grab some ice, and then went back up to my room. I did not really have any of the supplies I needed. I could not find the piercing earrings I got when I got my first wholes done, so I just decided to use safety pins. Hey, give me a break, I was desperate. I took the earring cleaner and rubbed it all over the safety pin. (I should have sterilized it using a lighter, but I was stupid.) I put the ice up to my ear and held it there for I don't even know how long. I left the ice on behind my ear lobe and just kind of pushed the safety pin in quickly. I did not even realize that it went in at first because my ear was so numb so I pulled it out by accident and had to redo it. After I definitely got it in I just closed the safety pin. I did the same thing with the other ear. Again, I didn't realize it went in when it did, so I pulled it out again, and probably made another whole. I was stupid and kept taking it out, and putting it back in. I guess I was just fascinated with the fact that it didn't hurt because my ears were so numb. When I was done, I looked in the mirror and I was surprised to see how even I had made it. I was so proud of myself, that I had finally worked up the courage to do it myself. That was it, it was done, so I went to bed.

The next morning I woke up and my ears were throbbing. They were all red, and they hurt like crazy. The first thing I did when I went to school was talked to my friend. She took one look at my ear and told me it was infected. By that time, my ear was so swollen it looked like it wanted to pop the safety pin open. Then she yelled at me when I told her how I did it. I should have just let her do it. She has her entire ear pierced. Everything, both ears. She was like, a pro. She told me that the smart thing to do was to take it out before the infection got worse, so we went to the bathroom and she helped me take both the safety pins out. They were all crusty and it hurt SO bad. When I got both of them out, the wholes started to bleed, and I could not stop it. The bell rang for first period so I HAD to do SOMETHING. I did not want to go to first period holding paper towels up to my ears, so I went to the nurse. I told her everything that I did and all that happened and she just gave me a band aid ad told me to go back to class. By the end of the day my ears had stopped hurting and the swelling had reduced. Sometimes I wonder if the infection would have gone away if I had just left the things in, because sometimes I get sad when I think about how I totally could've had 4 holes in my ears instead of only 2. So, to anyone who is reading this, don't be dumb and pierce anything yourself. Go to a professional because if you don't, the results could me much worse than mine. I know I'm definitely NOT going to pierce anything by myself again. Although I really REALLY want my lip pierced... maybe that will be a topic for my next story... : )

"Note: Holding a pin under a lighter does not sterilize it nor does it make it appropriate piercing jewellery."
