Well, I recently became interested in body modifications this year but due to school what I can do is very restricted. In late December I had my tongue done, but after a while it just wasn't enough. I wanted my lobes done and I had planned to have my mother take me to get them done but we got in a fight and there were issues with my father taking me. So, I opted to do them myself.
At A Glance Author Conner Contact highway2hell0610@yahoo.com When A week ago I had tried to do them two or three weeks before but much to my dismay, the needle was not big enough. So after I had acquired a large enough needle I proceeded to the bathroom. I turned my mp3 player on so I had something to calm my nerves. I then washed my hands and proceeded to clean off the counter and my lobes with alcohol and clean the needle and erasers (to stop the needle so I wouldn't shove it into my neck) with bleach. It was time....again....
I lined up the needle (a "prodder" from an unused dissection kit) to the spot on my left love that I wanted to pierce. I slowly started to push it and felt the pressure. A little more and I felt and heard the tissue breaking. I pulled away the eraser and barely felt the needle poking through the back of my lobe. Back on went the eraser and I pushed some more. It was uncomfortable but nothing unbearable. After it was through a considerable amount I took the eraser off the needle and placed it on the front of my lobe so that I could pull the needle out without yanking off my ear. Out came the needle and I picked up the quartz retainer I had. It went right in without a problem. The O-ring however, was a very tricky task. But after some fiddling, and dropping it a few times, I finally got it on.
One lobe down, one to go. I cleaned off the needle once more and another eraser. I was a little shaky because I was worried about getting the right one lined up with the left one. After some time I finally found a spot I liked. I stuck the needle in just a bit so I could see the spot if I lost it. Up went the eraser and thus began the trouble. The process was the same as the other lobe but it didn't go nearly as smooth. The hole was there but when I took the needle and tried to put the retainer in, I couldn't do it at all. So I grabbed the needle again and stuck it back through. From what I remember I had made another hole. I tried to insert the retainer yet again but still had no luck. Back in went the needle (this is getting redundant) and I believe I made a third hole. I let the needle sit in my ear for about ten minutes and while the time was passing I called my friend who has pierced herself many times before. She gave me some suggestions but none of them were very feasible at the time. I took the needle out, which seemed amazingly loose then tried to get the retainer in, again. It still wouldn't go in no matter how hard I tried. So while sticking it through, I looked at the back of my lobe in the mirror. I could see the retainer sticking in the hole, but the hole wasn't big enough to let it through. So I took a deep breath and pushed as hard as I could within reason and I felt it pop through. Along with it a lot of lymph came out. Then I fiddled with that O-ring and dropped it several times as well. It went on. It was pissed as hell but I did it. I was done. Or so I thought.
A day or two later I realized that the angle of the left one was terrible. The very back of it was up near the bottom of my conch. So after I got home from a friends house I set everything up again. I took the retainer out and placed the needle at the same spot I used the last time. I started pushing it in, but this time I was very careful as to get the right placement. After I thought it was good I started pushing it all the way through. It went through, but yet another set back, this time it was too low. So I went at it again. This time I finally got good placement on it. After leaving the needle in for a bit I took it out and put in the retainer, trouble free. The O-ring wasn't so bad to get on that time.
I somehow managed to loose the O-ring on the left retainer, which posed to be a problem. I woke up one morning and realized it wasn't in my ear. After some extreme hunting I found it, along with the O-ring that came of my right retainer. At this point I didn't even care about cleanliness. I rubbed of the scab and started putting the needle through. The hole was open all the way through, I was so happy. It just needed stretched back open. The needle was a bit uncomfortable going in (like I hadn't poked at my ears enough) but it came out fine and the retainer went in fine. So far I haven't had any more trouble with them except an incident when I nearly pulled the left one all the way out.
I plan on stretching them from 18 (current size) up to 8. I'm hoping that they will stretch fast, I can be rather impatient. But I'm not going to do anything stupid. I might go bigger in time, but I want to just sit at 8 and enjoy some jewelry. I can't wait to see what my school says about it when I get them there.
Also, I highly recommend NOT following what I did. But if you want to, I can't stop you. It would've been so much easier to swallow my pride and let my mom take me even if we weren't getting along.
