Not what I went in for...

My friends I had been talking about lip piercings for a while, but our plan was to wait until February, after soccer season was finished. Apparently, one cannot play with piercings. But anyway, February was the plan, until I started talking to someone else about piercings and tattoos. We'd been talking about what we wanted, and then one day she went to the place to pierce...something, not exactly sure at the time, but ended up with a tongue ring, along with the friend she went with.

I was pretty jealous...or something...that she got some kind of piercing on somewhere other than her ears. Her getting her piercing made me want one more and even sooner. So, we continued talking about it. After he tongue stopped swelling, the bar was too long, so she wanted to go back to the place to have the guy change it for her. The days kept being put off because of laziness, but eventually one day, I just decided to drive and so we went to the place.

Right before I walked in, I called my mom to see if I could get a labret, but, like she did the past how many times, she said, "No!" But I had the idea of getting a transverse lobe piercing. When we walked in, the man asked my friend what she wanted and they went and changed her tongue ring. Then, I had to wait in line for my piercing because ahead of me there was a lady changing her nipple rings and some friends getting lip piercings.

When it was finally my turn, the man brought out a mirror and asked me what I wanted. I told him about the transverse lobe piercing. But, he didn't really seem to understand what I was talking about (yeah, this place is pretty...not-that-professional-seeming). He then suggested I get two holes which if the holes on that ear were connected with a pen, all my piercings would form a...plus sign. I already had the normal lobe piercing that everyone has and a hole right after that one. He said he would just pierce it with a curved barbell, so it would look like two balls just sitting on my ear lobe. I agreed to it because he didn't seem like he knew anything about a transverse lobe and I wanted some different kind of piercing.

He went and got ready while I told my friend that I didn't want her to watch me, but she insisted on watching me. He then called me behind the wall and told me to sit on a dentist like chair. He marked where he was to pierce and I kind of just told him, "Okay, whatever." I asked him if there would be any bleeding, and he said he usually doesn't get any blood, but I guess after some thought, he got a white sheet of gauze or towel or something and placed it on my shoulder "just in case". Then he clamped my ear (which was really sore) then poked the earring through the first hole. Yup, that kind of hurt. Then I heard him shuffling around, I wondered what he was doing. Then I felt him wipe his fingers on that sheet of whatever on my shoulder...that was when I knew I was bleeding. Haha. Then, there he went again, fidgeting with the earring, that was sore. He was twisting it all weird ways and I don't even know. Then he told me he had to change it because it wasn't long enough to reach the second hole. Umm...okay then. Then I feel him wiping more blood up. Occasionally I would look towards my friend and she would make little faces of disgust and mouth to me "it looks like it hurts." And sometimes she wouldn't even be there watching, maybe because of the blood? At one part I looked, and I saw the sheet and his gloves with many splotches of blood. Well anyway, then he tells me that he can't pierce it with just one earring and has to put two different earrings in the two different holes. And once again, it was sore because it really seemed like he was touching it a lot and stuff. Then I guess it was over because he told me to put Bactine on it twice a day.

After that I talked to him a little about getting the labret. With the experience I had with the ear piercing, I would think not to go back to him and I think he even said at one point that my piercing was "a first" for him. But I really want that labret; I don't care what my mom says. He said that when I came again that he'd hook me up with some pricing deals. So that's good. I don't know, I think I'm going back again next week.

Oh, and it's been about four days since I got the piercing. It still hurts and the piercing closest to the bottom of my ear seems to be swelling more. I also realized later that he had pierced me with 14g and not 18g, or whatever the normal ear piercing gauge is. It pretty much sucks when I want to go to sleep because I can't sleep on my right side. But I guess it was worth it, just for the experience.
