Well a little over two years ago I wanted my ears pierced again. I had only had my lobes pierced when I was around nine months old. My mom thought it looked good for babies to wear earrings. I don't know everyone's opinion on that but I did like growing up with pierced ears, I didn't have to worry about it hurting to get them pierced like most children do when they are about 11 or 12 years old. I waited until I was 16 to get my fix.

Back to the subject, I was bored sitting at home just itching to get my ears pierced again. My mom was totally against having more than one earring in an ear, so I couldn't just be like "Hey Mom wanna take me to get my ears pierced again?" She would not have liked that at all. So I ended up finding one of my many safety pins, I was slightly obsessed with them, and I made sure the safety pin was in a spot where it wouldn't bother my previous piercing.

I wasn't really thinking about disinfecting or anything like that so I just pushed the safety pin through my ear. After the sting and pop of it going through I pulled it out and found one of my studs and put it in there. I lined up the safety pin in a similar spot on the other ear, while looking in a mirror of course, and pushed that one through and the earring. My mom was pretty mad about it getting done since I was only 16 and doing it myself but she's better with it now.

But all that happened was it was sore for a few days and red for a while, nothing major the swelling was minor and the bleeding was just a few drops. This surprised me honestly because I thought whenever a person was injured like that, that there would be some blood. I was really lucky to not get an infection because I didn't disinfect my earrings, my safety pins, or even my ears. I could have had a lot of problems but luckily I didn't. The whole procedure itself didn't hurt at all, I really expected it to hurt but I didn't even feel a thing. I think that's why I kept going with my piercings.

And yes my mom flipped out when she seen that I pierced my ears, I got the whole "you could ruin your ears like that, you could have infections and your ears could fall off now, is that what you really want?" lecture.

The earring that I had in were the ones with the backs on and my habit was to always wear them tight so my mom ended up taking me to get some capture rings for them.

About a week after I did that piercing done I went ahead and did a third piercing in the lobes of my ears. They went easy, but it bled a lot more than the other set. It still wasn't so bad that I was scared about it.

After I had all my piercings done I never did any aftercare except cleaned them in the shower with hot water and pulled the gunk and dried blood off my ears and earrings. I didn't do any sea salt water soaks or anything of that sort. That's why I'm honestly surprised that they all healed up so well.

But that was just the first time I did that, I have my lobes pierced a total of three times on each side and currently my earrings gages are 8g, 10g, and 12g. I also had my cartilage pierced on both sides. The upper back part of my ear to be a little more specific I don't know the name of that piercing or if there even is one. But those have earrings that are 12g.

I don't think I'm yet done with my piercings just yet though. My goal before I even got my new holes done was to get ten earrings. Three in the lobes on each side and two in the cartilage I love all eight of my piercings to death and I'm so glad that I got them, but I don't regret not getting them done by a professional because they all turned out as well as I could ever hope for. But though I DO NOT recommend that anyone pierce themselves or let a friend that is not a professional do it, I most likely will have my cartilage pierced again by a friend. Or maybe I'll smarten up and get it professionally done. There's always a chance. And just because you read someone's story on here and it doesn't follow all the rules doesn't mean that it's okay for you to do it. But either way thanks for reading about my experience.
