I have always been in love with piercings, for as long as i can remember, I have thought they were the coolest thing ever. The first time I ever had anything pierced was when i was 14 and I pierced my nose myself (which I don't really reccommend self piercing nowadays, I was lucky and mine went over well and didn't get infected) Anyways, so for forever I've loved piercings, my parents didn't but I finally convinced them that they are better than tattoos because they can be easily taken out and gone! They really like that idea. Well about a year ago I already had my nose pierced along with my tragus, but I decided that I needed a new piercing. I was 16 at the time and I had to talk my dad into letting me get this done. At first he disagreed completely and said that I didn't need anymore "shrapnel" in my body. After a while of begging and pleading he finally caved in to my wishes. We decided that it was going to be my Christmas present. Sunday nights at Platinum Ink in austin, Tx they have "customer appreciation day" where most piercings are only fifteen dollars!!! I can say that I have taken advantage of those awesome prices for a while now with all of my piercings being done there!

We went to the piercing place (platinum ink) and I picked out which piercing I wanted. The Anti-Tragus, if you don't know what that is, it's on the lower part of you ear below the tragus.
I was nervous and I just knew that it was going to be painful, but I did not chicken out, thank god (because I love it so much and I wouldn't know what to do with out it!)
Anyway, the guys at the shop assured me that it wouldn't hurt any more than a normal cartilege piercing, one of which I already had, so I felt a little better after that. The piercer actually commented about how he hadn't had anyone come in requesting an anti-tragus piercing in a long time, so that was pretty cool. I picked out a ring and walked into the room. I sat on a table type thing, like they have in the doctors office and he told me to tilt my head so that he could better see my ear...so I did. Meanwhile, my dad is in the room with me and talking to the guy about random stuff, I was really worried that my dad would distract him and that my ear would be messed up for life, but luckily he didn't. The guy put the needle into my ear and needless to say it DID hurt, but not as bad as I had anticipated. I heard the popping noise of my skin when it went through that last little layer before popping out the other side.
I was grossed out for a little bit but that was expected. I bled a tiny tiny bit and the guy asked me if I had taken any aspirin, which I didn't but I bled anyways. So he cleaned the blood off my ear and everything was all good. My dad tipped the guy because they work on commission (which sucks but its cool that they still do it anyways, so everyone tip your piercer! they deserve it!)
I will admit that while in the beginning I cleaned my piercing like I was supposed to, but I stopped doing it after a while and it became infected. It hurt really bad when it was infected and needless to say- I learned my lesson! So I started cleaning it again with dial soap and everything was soon back to normal. Then I lost the balls to the ring that was in there, so I had just the ring part with no ball. The jewelry never fell out except for one time on my birthday and squeezing that bitch back in was painful! I lived through it though, so it's all good. Finally after getting my eyebrow pierced i had new jewelry. I switched the ring out and put an eyebrow barbell in there, it looks neat.
A lot of people don't know what the anti-tragus piercing is and when they ask me what it is, I have to explain it to them
I would definetly recommend getting your anti-tragus pierced to anyone who is thinking about it! Make sure though to keep up the cleaning and to love and take care of your piercing...that goes along with ANY piercing. Clean your holes people! Seriously, bad things can happen if you don't.
