My love for piercings happened at the beginning of this year when I had my tongue pierced. Ever since then I had the urge to get something done every time I set foot in Skingraft, the piercing studio in my town. Since my tongue I had only had my navel and Industrial done as my parents hate piercing and as I still live under their roof, I try and respect them as much as possible.

However I had the itch again, It was definitly time to get something new done. It was a Friday and I was in town with my friend De.

My Industrial was now 4 months old and De had recently had her Industrial and her right Tragus done.

I wanted to get something else, something a bit different that not a lot of people in my town had. So we decided on my right rook (my industrial was on my left - decided to even things out a bit).

I asked the girl at the counter if I could have my rook pierced and she gave me the forms to fill out. I wasn't even nervous about this piercing, I suppose because it was in my ear.I got out my ID and kind of asked if she needed to see it and she remembered me!! She said she had seen it before, I was quite stoked haha.

So after filling out the forms and paying, I was told to go and take a seat in the waiting area. After about 3 minutes, the piercer came out and told me I could come in now. I hadn't seen this piercer in the shop before but I knew that she was the owner/head piercers sister.

She got me to sit up on the dentist like chair and she lowered it a bit so she could get at my ear a bit easier. My friend De had also come in to watch. We all talked for a bit about our different ear piercings and then she marked my ear. I liked the placement, so we continued.

Skingraft is an awesome place to get pierced as they are all so friendly and professional. It also very clean and sterile and I trust them immensly.

She didn't show me the needle itself but she showed me that she was opening a new packet with a brand new needle in it.

She then got out the clamps and proceeded to clamp my ear, she was having a bit of difficulty with the clamps and couldn't get them quite right. She was going to do it freehand but then some how she managed to figure out a good way to do it using the clamps so I was happy.

She sprayed my ear with freezing spray which tickled a little and positioned the needle. She asked me to breathe in deeply and then slowly exhale and whilst I exhaled she pierced my lovely little rook.

It hurt!! It didn't go all the way through on the the first push, so she had to push again, I heard it pop and everything! A few tears were coming out my left eye and running down my face.

Wow did it burn, she followed through with the jewellery. I had decided on a slightly curved barbell. The piercer couldn't get one of the balls on (I can't remember if it was the top ball or the bottom), so there was a bit of tugging and what not on my freshly pierced rook but it didn't hurt as much as the initial piercing did. She then cleaned it for me. It didn't bleed as much as my Industrial had.

I got up and looked in the mirror, it was beautiful.

I was so happy.

It didn't hurt to much after I had it done but I could definitly feel that it was there. I felt a little dizzy after having it done so De and I went and got some pizza. After that I felt heaps better, although the right side of head throbbed for a good 3 hours!

The first night I didn't sleep to good as my Industrial still gets a bit funny when I sleep on it for too long.

The second night was a lot better, and now I can sleep on it without any hassle at all, and it's only been 4 days!!

I clean it every morning and night and it's not a hassle at all. It still bleeds a little during the night, so I just gently remove the dried blood with warm salty water.

Now all I have to worry about is my parents finding out!!

But it doesn't really stand out, I mean they haven't noticed yet.

I recommend getting your rook done, even though it hurt like hell, It's a pleasure to look at in the mirror...

Happy piercing everyone!!
