I have never like piercings. Through high school, I always teased my best friend about the ones he wanted. Earlier this year, he got his eyebrow pierced and I made fun of him. It was cool, he knew I was joking. I'd always tell him that all piercing look stupid (I don't believe that, just talk among friends). I would then proceed to say that I DID like the industrial piercing though...

I've always thought girls with Industrial Piercings were very hot. I'd talk to some girls just because of their piercing, and that's a funny thing to do I suppose, especially when you're a scrubby, unpierced college kid. Probably a bit creepy too...

No one, including myself, ever expected to get any piercings or tattoos. I avoided pain whenever possible, I was very professional (School groups and what not), and I lived with my grandparents (who would have kicked me out had I done something like that). It was a shock to most that I did.

Come college there were a lot of changes with me. My best friend cut my long hair, I got a second job, and I got a kick ass Industrial Piercing.

On my one year anniversary (Girlfriend), the girlfriend showed me where Action Ink was. We stopped in and I asked if they did the Industrial. They did, and at $35.00! Everywhere else was at LEAST $50.00 when I called.

I decided to get it done then. The guy took my info and everything and told me the wait would be a half our, the guy was doing a tattoo. I waited. I wasn't afraid or nervous; I really didn't think it was anything big.

After 45 minutes he said he was ready and I went into the Guy's room. I can't remember his name. Lanny, maybe? Whatever. He had me lay on his table while he got his stuff ready. The girlfriend wanted to watch, so she was there too. I turned to Guy and asked in a joking tone "So, how much is this going to hurt?" He looked back at me, dead serious, and said "A lot."

Ha-ha. He then proceeded to ask which ear, mark said ear, and then jam the needle through my ear without any warning. He then went on to say "Damn, you have some thick cartilage!" It was at that point that I could feel the blood dripping down the back of my head, which made me laugh. It was extremely painful, and I was grasping the table/seat and trying not to move. He then slid the bar in, twisting it the entire time, saying "Get in there" and "come on"... Not very encouraging, yet definitely excruciating.

And then it was over. My ear was a painful bloody mess with a 4 inch rod through it, I was mildly disoriented, and I was $35.00 dollars down. I loved it.

It's been a little over two weeks; I've switched it out to a perfect fit silver barbell with spiked tips, and am looking for more!

I'm already looking for my next piercing/tattoos. I might do a Double Parallel Industrial on the other (right) ear. I might just get a tattoo between the shoulder blades (spade). I'm not really sure. But I am looking forward to it, and I do like the way the first one looks. It's clean, gets comments, and makes my boss cringe. She can't even look at me, and I find it funny. I hope anyone else who decided to get this done has the same feelings I do. I suggest that you have someone with you, either to stem the flow of blood or drive with you if you need them to. You don't want to be driving by yourself and then pass out, or get blood in your eye, or w/e. I'd also suggest paying some more money than I did... The place I went to was very informal, even if they were very nice. Quality is important more than anything else I suppose.

I'm also open to any suggestions to other modifications; I'd love to try something new. Also, if anyone else knows where I can pick up some good barbells, either online or in the Bristol County (MA) area, I'd like to hear from you. My e-mail is silt44@yahoo.com or dlesperance@bridgew.com, and I can be found on AIM under the name of Silt44. I also have a Facebook (search for Dustin Lesperance), or a myspace (myspace.com/lonesome_me). There are plenty of ways to reach me, and I am really looking for some decent barbells, there's no one around here who sells anything different, and that's a very sad thing to say.

Industrial piercings are cool because they're not offensive, they can be hidden, they don't get caught too much, and they heal relatively quickly, as long as they are cleaned properly.
