Well fist of all, I've always been fascinated with body modification. My first holes were done when I was 10 and I (stupidly as most children will do) used the gun piercing stud to punch two more sets of holes in my head by the time I was 13. Multiple piercings always struck me as beautiful. Anyway, back to the story at hand. About six months ago I decided to pierce my lip, which you can read about in the lip piercing section. Well after it was healed up a bit I set out to find a properly fitting ring in 16g which took spending about $30.00 on eBay and getting nearly two dozen different horseshoe and cbr's. I had so many I decided to plug all the rest of my holes with the additional 16g rings, which I had to force in, they were a little tighter than my studs and wires I usually wore.

I wanted that, but a bit bigger. And that's where it began, about 2 weeks later after researching and scrutinizing if I was really going to do this (and considering what they will look like when I'm 40, yes I did think about it) I went on eBay and bought a lot of 14-10g cbr's and waited impatiently for them to come.
The day they arrived I was excited; I washed them real good with dial hand soap and my ears as well. I sat on my bed, a fist full of 14g cbr's and a damp paper towel. I positioned the ring at my bottom hole and pushed... It stung but after a breath or two I was fine and did the right ear, this one stung a bit more. They stayed tight, but not really painful for a day or two and they stopped hurting and I waited patiently willing them to heal. After another two weeks I decided they had healed enough and drove the 12g in... This stung quite a bit more than the 14's but I was fine, again, nothing I couldn't handle.
Three weeks later my impatience grew again and I decided it was time for the 10g's... I repeated the washing ritual and tried to shove the rings in and fuck! It hurt! ow ow ow... I breathed deeply a few times (yeah, to the point I made myself dizzy) and did the other... by now my lobes hurt so bad I couldn't get the balls in the cbr's. I remembered that they sell real tiny rubber o rings at home depot, so I drove up there and bought them, keeping the rings at the very bottom on the rings. At this point I swore up and down I was waiting at least a month/ month and a half before going to 8g, but after 2 weeks I got tired of the rings and went to trusty eBay again and bought a lot of 10, 8 and 6g single flare tunnels and when they arrived I diligently wore the 10g tunnels for about 10 whole minutes before deciding that I didn't really like the way the 2 sets of rings and tunnels looked at the bottom... so I had to get my other two holes big enough to accept all the tunnels.
I went back to trusty eBay and won a lot of 24 acrylic plugs (a pair in each gauge 14-00g plus doubles) and a pair of 8g cbr's. Within that week both packages came and I tried to get the 8g ring in my ear... yeah... after lots of ouchies and a little swearing they were in and I had got the 14's in my second holes no problem... in fact, they were loose enough that tried the 12g's and they fit kind of snug, but not bad... Hooray for heavy beads and time! I went to bed and work the next day... my bottom holes hurt like hell and my left ear seemed swollen that morning. When I got in the car after work I looked at them and sure enough, my left lobe was nearly double its size... crap... I got home quickly and removed the ring... Ack! It was like turning on a spickit of gross... my ear bled and pussy for what seemed like forever. I cleaned them up real good, soaking the rings in peroxide, and cleaning my ear in it as well. But instead of going back to my 10g's I stubbornly shoved the 8's back in and diligently cleaned and soaked them for the next three days and they felt a lot better, and the infection passed. My cousin had a wedding coming up in a month and by now I had lost most of the balls to my cbr's besides the 8's, so I decided to buy a pair of pretty white bone drop earrings and a couple pairs of clear glass plugs. The plugs came, but the hooks were taking a bit longer. About 2 weeks later I found a pair of 6g steel spirals and had to buy them (planning ahead I guess). I had begun getting worried, my hooks were not coming, and by the third week, they still had not arrived so I decided I had the spirals I will most likely have to wear them.
I smartly began this stretch a bit slower, sliding a 16g ring in with my 8's and after a day took that out and went to 14's. 2 days later I slid the spirals in and they only pinched a bit and I was very happy! I wore them easily for the next few days, and when my plugs came, I upgraded to them (my tops 2 holes now being 14 and 10) the wedding came and went and I got an email from the woman I bought the spirals from that she had a pair in 4g. I loved the 6's so I immediately snapped up the 4's. When they came I took them in the back yard where my family was having a barbeque. It was about a week and a half since my last stretch but my ears didn't hurt at all. My dad started egging me on about being a tribes woman, and to spite him (and myself I guess now too) I slid the spiral tapers in, it stung a bit, but I was alright. That night I tried to sleep on these tapers, but they were too big, and kept poking me. Half asleep I got a pair of my 4g acrylics I had bought ages ago and forced them in and went back to sleep... bad, bad, bad... I woke up and both ears hurt real bad, and were swollen... guess what... I was infected again... I went to the diligent cleaning and soaking, but even after the infection passed they hurt badly and one would bleed occasionally... But again being stubborn, refused to downsize... instead I went again on eBay and bought a pair of solid titanium plugs, and had them overnighted ($16.00 to ship, but at $.99 for the pair, I wasn't hurting too bad). The next morning they came and I washed and very painfully switched out of the crappy acrylics. That was about 2 weeks ago and now my ears are feeling good. I just got my top holes to 12g and my seconds to 8... Which I did too fast and the 8's are angry, but luckily not infected. I can't wait to get to my 00g goal, but have decided with all the problems I've had, slower is better, and patience is a virtue... now I mark days on my calendar like it's Christmas, and count down to the next stretch... 26 days till 2g!
