For the past two years, I've been debating whether or not to get ear lobes pierced. I want to get tunnels in them, but I didn't know how big I wanted to go. I thought I would start at 8ga and work from there. I went to a local piercer in my home area. looking to get both my lobes pierced at 8ga and my conch at 10ga. They suggested to do only the conch and do the lobes after the conch healed. I took their advice to get my conch pierced, but have been waiting to get my lobes pierced. Part of my reason to put off getting my lobes pierced was work related.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When It just happened Studio Gemini Location Wildwood, NJ Fast forward a couple of years to last night. I decided to take couple days off from work to enjoy what's left of summer and to get away to Wildwood, NJ to ride the rides and have a great time. I knew I wanted to get something pierced, but I couldn't make up my mind between an industrial, septum, or my ear lobe. Knowing that head would bounce around and hit the shoulder restraints on some of the rides, I decided to wait until I was finished enjoying the rides before getting my ear pierced. After all, I was in Wildwood for the rides, and I could just as easily get pierced when I returned home.
I got my thrills on the Great Nor'easter, Malestrom, the Sea Serpent, Doom Phloom, Sky Scraper, Screamin' Swing, and the Spring Shot just to name a few. I concluded my thrill seeking on the Great White... or so I thought. It was about 11pm, and took my last ride on the Great White, a wooden rollercoaster that drops below the boardwalk pier as soon as leaving the gate before getting to the lift hill. I had a great time on the rides, and before heading back to my room, I sat on the footsie wootsie feet messager. Once the machine stopped and I stood up, it felt like I was walking on air. With my feet refreshed, I felt like I could go on and do more.
I walked past Gemini on my way back to my room. I decided to stop in and take a look. I was thinking about getting my septum pierced, because I could hide the piercing with a retainer. As I walked up to the display case, the tunnel caught my eye. My interest was renewed in getting my ear lobes pierced, but I was having second thoughts.
A couple of minutes later, a nice beautiful young lady came over to me and asked what I was interested in. I said I wanted to get my ear lobe pierced, at 8ga. I asked about getting a tunnel for the jewelry. She showed me a captive bead ring and said I would have wear that while the piercing healed. Then she asked me if I wanted to get it done. I paused to think about, but she said "Yeah!", and I said okay without thinking about.
I filled out the paperwork, and started having second thoughts. However, I didn't have time to back out. Once I finished the paperwork and paid, the lady brought me to the room in the back to get pierced. She said to see her before I leave so she could see the piercing. The piercer asked me which ear, and I picked my left ear. He cleaned the lobe, marked the spot, and then I felt a needle against my ear. He told me to breath. I inhaled and he pushed the needle through. I was expecting to breathe in and out a couple times first. I felt the needle, and it didn't hurt. I didn't even bleed. I was expecting pain. He put the ring, still no pain. I looked in the mirror and I like what I saw.
I went back to see the girl on my way out. She loved it. I thanked her for talking me into going through with it. She said to see her when I wanted to get my other ear pierced. I can't wait to get my other ear done, but I'll wait until the first one heals. I'll probably get it done closer to home. I'm looking forward to getting tunnels in and perhaps even stretch my lobes.
As for work, there are other people I work with in other locations with multiple rings in both ears and someone with a labret. Although having a piercing shouldn't be a problem, I'm interested to see what their reactions with be.
Anyone who thinks getting lobes pierced at 8ga will hurt, it's mind over matter. As long as the piercer knows what they are doing, go for it! Just do one at a time so you can rest your unpierced/healed ear on your pillow while the other one heals.
