I got my Daith pierced the day before I went to Niagara Falls on impulse. I considered getting it done about a month ago, but decided to get a Conch later on instead. It was only a day before I actually got it done that I started to think about getting it done after all. I was thinking about getting both done and thought it might look better than just getting my Conch done. I previously dismissed getting my Daith done because I thought it would look bad with my Tragus and I loved my Tragus.

The problem with those was that I finally was able to change to barbells and realized they were not even at all and I hated them, so I removed them. I was sad all night about having to remove my jewelry and even a little depressed. I went from 29 piercings to just 27.
I woke up the next day thinking about how I should get 2 new piercings to replace the two I had to take out. I thought about it all morning and finally decided I was going to do it. It was sort of on impulse that I decided I wanted my Daith done on my left side and just another Helix on the right side. I decided about 20 minutes prior to pulling into Evolution.
Well, when I got to Evolution, I walked in and seen my piercer Jeremy at the desk. I expressed my anger that my Eyebrows had turned out so bad. He told me I should have left them in for him to see, but it was ok and he would redo them for free. I thanked him and appreciated the nice temper and told him I wanted to wait about a month before even thinking about redoing them, but I did want to get some ear piercings today.
I asked him if he has ever done a Daith and he said he has. I found out later that I was only his second one and the first one was a big one and mine was really tiny. After we talked about what I wanted, I filled out the paperwork for my Daith and Helix, while Jake, the apprentice, went to the back to set up for him.
After talking for a few minutes, Jeremy led me in the back. I thought Jake would watch or Josh would follow me back, but no one did. It was just Jeremy and I.
Jeremy talked to me for a few minutes while he checked out my Daith. We were going to use ¼" CBR like I asked for, but since my ear was so small, close together, and fatter than I thought, we decided to use a 5/16" later on.
I lay down on the hospital like table and Jeremy got out the tools and tried to position them in my ear. The set up putting everything in my ear took a few minutes and he had trouble fitting everything in my small ear. He told me at that time about only doing one before and how he might have to wait because he was having trouble. I told him he could do it or wait, I was getting nervous by that time. While Jeremy kept trying to position the receiving tube and needle, I kept thinking about how I should have thrown my gum away because I was going to swallow it.
Jeremy poked my ear a few times to see if the needle would fit in my ear. The poke did not really hurt; it just felt like a tapping on my ear. On some parts of the body if you tap like that with the end of the needle, it will hurt, like on the eyebrow or even on the Helix (to me), but this did not hurt at all.
Jeremy finally got the receiving tube in my ear and the needle positioned to push through. I would say that took about 10 to 20 minutes, but lying on that table nervous made me loose my since of time. Anyways, I felt the needle press onto my ear and Jeremy told me to take a deep breath and he started to push the needle in. I have no way to explain this feeling and put it into words that will completely describe the experience. It was something new that I have never experienced before with any of my other 30 some piercings that I got done. I could feel the needle sliding in and I could feel that the ear was extremely thick. The process was slow, but not exactly painful. I felt pain, but not sharp prickly feeling that lasts only a few seconds. The needle went slowly in my ear and to best describe the feeling would be a burning sensation. My ear turned warm and it just felt a big pressure on my ear. There was some pain, but mostly it was pressure.
The needle finally broke out the other side of my ear. Jeremy stopped them and went to get a 5/16", it was then that we realized the ¼" would not work. He left the receiving tube and everything in my ear. I felt like I was wearing earmuffs. He left my ear alone for about a minute and that gave me time to take a deep breath and get stabilized and wait on the change over. I realized that I had almost swallowed my gum and I quickly moved it to the front of my mouth.
The piercing part was exuberating. I have been trying to think of a great word to describe it since I got it done, but I am coming up blank. It was like doing something extremely exciting then being so worn out and exhausted and shaky afterwards. Maybe like going on your first roller coaster or for a lack of a better example having sex and then being exhausted afterwards. My favorite description of this experience that I kept repeating over and over to describe it afterwards was intense. The feeling was extremely I intense. That is the best explanation I can come up with for it.
Well, anyways, after the minute or two of thinking and lying on the table exhausted, it was time for the transfer. Jeremy got the jewelry and brought it to my ear. He took the receiving tube out and started to pull the needle out and exchange it with the jewelry. The needle being pulled out did not hurt, but the jewelry entering hurt a little. Again, it felt more like a pressure than pain. I could feel it entering me and turning.
The most painful part of this experience was when Jeremy put the ball on. It took him a few tries to get the ball on since my ear is so small, but he got it. After the ball was on, Jeremy was bragging how proud he was and I was smiling ear to ear. I slowly sat up and told him I needed a break before my second piercing. I have never needed a break before, but this time I NEEDED one. If I had been a smoker or a drinker, that's what I would have been doing at this time, but since I am not, I just went out front to see Josh and sat on the sofa to talk to him.
I was shaky and a little dizzy. I sat down for about 10 minutes talking and relaxing. After that I went in back and got my other piercing done. I will never complain about Helix's again! They are not this exhausting and the pain on those is sharp but its fast, not long and exhausting.
I paid after that and went and got something to drink to calm my nerves down. A few hours after getting it done, I was fine and got all packed for my trip.
My new piercing is doing well so far. I am cleaning it with Dial and Sea Salt. I cannot turn it just yet; I am not even going to try. I look forward to changing it to a barbell. I thought I would like the CBR, but I changed my mind.
For those of you wanting to get this done, I say go for it. The experience is exhausting, yes, but it one of a kind. I would do this all over again, just to experience what I did. Not to mention the piercing is gorgeous. It looks good on boys and girls alike. If you have any questions feel free to send me an email.
My camera is packed for vacation right now, but if you want to see pictures, just email me or check out my IAM: Silhouettes. Thanks!
