My rook. This was done because I've always wanted many piercings and wanted one where it isn't really on display all the time, as I'm a bit of a chicken. If I lived somewhere where people didn't know me I could start a new fresh life with lots of piercings. I feel I would go a little crazy if I lived in the middle of New Zealand and didn't know anyone. I would have at least four lobes with the scope to stretch and an orbital, both tragus', nostril, lip and tongue. But back to reality and I have now got a retired rook. I'll explain later.
At A Glance Author T Contact tony_san@hotmail.co.uk When A year ago Artist Not known Studio Blue banana Location Doncaster I went to one of the blue banana shops in England to get this done as it has an excellent rep and my cousin who incidentally came with me, has had a couple of things done there, by an awesome looking pierced tattooed girl.
In the past I have self pierced a few times: lobes, septum(at least 4 times), upper cartilage in ears(quite a few times) and even tried to do nipples, but lost the bottle. Anyway I wanted a rook as I loved the way they looked, loved the way they felt and just loved the idea that I could have a piercing and not be really noticed. I wouldn't really like to show off. We arrived at the shop and went for it and said I wanted my rook pierced please. I couldn't really take my eyes off the girl who served me, she was a babe and I knew her from college. She could have pierced anything and I would have gone for it. I digress, I chose a small cbr even though I wanted a bar, but whatever the girl said I did(sad I know, she's the pro).
We went into the back room, which was a very clean smelling room, and she asked me which ear I would like done, I didn't know or even think about it, I chose the left. I lied down and she began to get on with the procedure. My cousins face said it all, but I quite enjoyed it. It felt a bit hot and that was it. It did bleed a little but nothing much to write home about. I thank her and she told me about their policy and we went home to trick my father. He didn't even notice which I was very pleased about, 'cos if he didn't notice no-one would really.
My cousin went home and I went to pick the Mrs up. She noticed straight away and called me weird. But it kinda grew on her. She seemed very disappointed in me but, after a while I called her old and boring, she laughed, but I knew it hurt her a little. She has at least had her navel done now and really likes it and is thinking of getting "other" things done like nipples and stuff.
After a couple of weeks with no probs the ball thing came off in bed and I hadn't got a clue how to get it back on again. I was advised to got back to the shop. I did. I wore the ring with no ball for about two weeks until I had time to go back to the "Blue Banana". I used to turn it round so it was totally hidden from people and disapproving friends, I wished I could turn the clock back as I really like having this piercing. I think if I still had it I might have progressed onto other ear piercings. This process of putting the ball back on hurt more than the actual piercing, I think it got bruised during this process and to make matters worse I hurt it during the following nights sleep. The girl in the shop was more than happy to help and was really careful, she did her best as the piercing was almost in the bit of rook that is right in the corner. I asked for this bit pierced for the reason as before, to hide it as I'm a total chicken.
I had to get my cousin back(he's a nurse) to help with the removal of the ring as it was all manky and would heal no matter what I did. We did a full operation and once it was removed it felt great, such a relief, but such a disappointment, I really enjoyed wearing the rook and will be getting another one very soon. I have just given blood again so I can use the time before the next give blood session to have another one done. I'm going for another rook, they rock.
Don't let me put you off from getting one, just be very careful with it until it's fully healed. Happy rooking dudes. Thank for reading, hope I didn't bore you too much.
