So I just finished my Junior Cert today (kinda big month long exam) and I was told I could get my rook or my scaffold pierced after it was finished. I talked to my sister who has many a piercing and she said that rook would be best, and I agreed, due to the fact there is only one hole, rather than two. So after school I went home and had a roll. After a confusing and long talk about when everyone could go (I.E. my sister and a friend) I decided to go today (22/5/06) but unfortunately my friend couldn't go, so it was just my sister and I. so off we went into Dublin City Centre, unfortunately the experience was slightly tainted due to knackers on the bus, but there was nothing to be done about that!

So anyway, off we went to St. Stephens Green, where these hippy people were dancing and singing (well really it was just shouting in rhythm...no melody or anything like that) we walked up to Celestial ring, where I was told I couldn't without I.D. or a parent (who would be to lazy to go into town just to say yes I agree) or guardian to back me up, and of course my sister wasn't allowed (she's 21 btw) so off we went to body shock, all the while I'm getting more and more nervous. So in I go, say what I want, fill out a form (it asked was I pregnant, I would be concerned if I was hehehe) then I paid and took a seat and waited, my tension growing, my sister not helping by telling me it was only a searing pain.
So in I went, the guy was very very nice, chatting happily, talking about it, answering my questions and so on. He asked what side I wanted it on, I replied right (I sleep on my left) so he put on gloves, took everything out of clean packets and so on, then Showtime!
I sat there, with my eyes closed and gripping the seat/table the cork went behind the rook, and the needle went in, not much pain at all, and I'm a wuss with pain, and I in shock actually opened my eyes and let the table go. The worst thing was a little popping sound, then the sound of a rusty door opening as the needle went through the cartilage, he screwed in the bar, cleaned off the blood, talked some more and nothing, no pain...I was slightly worried, so I asked to make sure nothing bad had happened and I was told what I was feeling is probably the worst the pain would get. He cleaned off the few drops of blood, then gave me a pamphlet and sent me on my merry way.
So out I went, proud of myself for not chickening out, there wasn't a lot of blood, thankfully, I pass out at the sight of my blood, no one else's, you could be bleeding to death and it wouldn't make me feel even slightly queasy, but 1 drop of *my* blood and I start to feel like I'm going to pass out....kind of a selfish squishness...
So off I went, home on the bus with my sister, and now I'm typing this, my ear doesn't hurt that much, a nice burny warm feeling (and no I'm not a masochist!)
I came home, became sidetracked, talking on the phone, making plans for today.
So after talking for about an hour (longest phone call I have EVER had hehe)
We decided what was happening and I went off to have a shower. In the shower I became confused about my right and left, and accidentally hit the bar, I winced expecting MASSIVE pain, but there was only a slight throb and nothing, I was told when I was in the shower to point the nozzle at my ear for a few minuets, so I did that but had to stop as it was tickling. So I got out of the shower and cleaned off the crusty blood, it wasn't too painful, only annoying to remove some of the blood behind the bobble.
I couldn't sleep and I kept tossing and turning, which is unusual for me, so I eventually settled down and slept, before being awakened by the pain in my ear, I had turned over in my sleep. That was the only problem I had.
This morning I woke up and had to clean it, it wasn't too bad, no crusties (yay!)
Then I went into town and went to the cinema, during my trip I kept accidentally pressing the back of my ear while brushing my hair behind my ear.
One of the people I was with decided to try and hit it with an elastic band, they missed, hitting below my ear, but they decided not to do it again as I threatened to rip out his eyebrow piercing if he EVER did something like that again, and he knew I was serious as I'm generally a pacifist.
So right now I'm watching CSI something-or-other then I'm going off to clean it again.
My advice GET IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you can go to BodyShock in Temple Bar (just behind Central Bank)
