Piercings are something I've always loved. Thought I never had many, I had always wished I did. When I was 5 I got my first lobe piercing, and when I was 7 I got my second holes. Those healed like angels, probably because my mom took care of them and didn't let me touch them.

I got my cartilage done for my 9th birthday, which I managed to halfway heal before pulling the ball of the post out of the back of my ear. Needless to say it was a painful experiment. I then developed my want for a naval ring. My parents decided I would be allowed to get it on my 13th birthday, which I thought was reasonable.

So, 2 days after my 13th birthday my mom took me to Primal Urge, I forget how we had heard of it. Ron pierced it for me, sent me home, and I managed to get THAT infected twice, both times Primal Urge took very good care of me, helping me return it to a nice healthy state, which its in today.

When I was 15 I decided I wanted my tragus done bad, I begged and begged, and my mom said no. Then, on Christmas, my sister and I both received one piercing each.

After carefully observing picture on BME I decided that I'd rather have my rook done, then get my tragus done later. So I went for it. We went to Primal Urge, who are wonderful through everything. They have very honest piercers, who are very experienced and always wearing scrubs. The piercing room itself is upstairs and is like a small doctors office.

First they ask you what your having done and you have to fill out a form and if your under 18 you have to get a parent who's read and willing to sign for you. Then they have you pick out jewelry. After this they take you upstairs

Like at the doctors they had me sit on a table. She put on a clean pair of latex gloves and laid out sterilized tool for piercing my ear. By the way, needle piercings are the only way to go. She cleaned my ear and marked the spot. Then She got the needle and cork ready, deep breathe in, deep breathe out, and I had a needle in my ear. After this she carefully slid the hoop through and closed it up. I always recommend hoops, as they are much easier to clean.

I'm not the person to ask about pain because I have a ridiculous pain tolerance, so nothing quite hurts it ached a bit after, but until I got it infected that was it. Veronica, my piercer (who was awesome, very knowledgeable, and later did my tragus and who I think will do the orbital I'm getting in a month) thoroughly explained the aftercare (dial soap in the shower at least twice a day) and sent me off.

It was fantastic for a while, but then I started to play with it during the day, and turning it and picking pus off it, which led to it getting really infected. It was super swollen all the time and got really really painful all the time. It pussed ALL the time and got a huge bubble on both sides.

When I went to get my tragus done about 2 months later, I confessed to Veronica that I had not heeded her warning and played with it, which got it super infected. She was disappointed, but happy I at least accepted the blame. She gave a me a 7 day salt soak, which I did alot, but never for 7 straight days. Now, for some reason its amazingly healthy. I can turn it and play with it and it doesn't get very cruddy at all, almost not at all. Its probably because now I play with the tragus I got infected.

I cannot stress to you enough to just not touch your piercings until their healed. DO NOT. I'm an idiot and can never keep my hands off them and it only gets you a very swollen and painful hole in your head that you like to much to take out so you suffer. Just clean it, look at it, and then once its healed go to town. You don't want to end up like me. Really, you don't.

I seriously recommend Primal if your in its general area. Its very professional and immaculately clean. Everyone there is very experienced and read and willing to tell you how it is, especially Ron. Their prices are reasonable, and if you listen to their instructions, you'll have a wonderful piercing that does not become infected. So long as you keep your paws off it while its healing. I mean it. Don't touch it unless your cleaning it. It will heal right and straight and all that, so you don't need to adjust it or turn it while its dry. DON'T TOUCH NEW PIERCINGSS!
