I'm sure you've all found yourself in this position:

You've just had a birthday/christmas raise, and the shock of having money in your pocket forces you to go out and get something pierced. So off I went.

In fact, I'd been given a card for my 15th which entitled me to one free piercing, so I was all set really.

As usual, the piercing was at complete random, because if I think about it too much I know I'll chicken out.

So, without much anticipation, or even knowing what I wanted done, I walked in Kasbah to look at the piercing list. I love doing this by the way, if I ever see a pricing list, I stare at it in wonder of all the places on my body I could spend money on.

Anyway, I noticed conch and daith were only £15. My next piercing was planned to be a conch, but in my excitement I'd actually forgotten about that, and I asked how much a snug would be.

To be honest, the lady at the desk, although nice, didn't particularly have a clue. I explained what I wanted, and she just wrote down cartilage, and I paid £15 and was sent upstairs.

I do love Kasbah by the way. I hadn't been there for ages due to the fact that beyond reality was far closer. But it's such a dudey little shop, the atmosphere's great.

Anywho, me and my ex girlfriend [who I was in town with for some reason] ventured up the stairway. She was asking me if it was done with a gun and all that silly stuff. It actually calmed me down a little to explain what they do.

So I got upstairs and had a little chat with the guy, who I think is called Pete. All the other times I'd been in there [for tongue and tragus] I hadn't really spoken, out of nervousness probably; but he turned out to be really lovely and encouraging.

I sat there swinging my legs on the big scary chair whilst he got his equipment ready. He explained why the conch was called conch, which put my mind off things. [The sells at the beach which you can hear the sea in are called conch shells]. He dotted up and let me check if it was right.

Now, I was actually expecting worse. I've been told [and read] that snug is definitely on par with tragus. And my tragus was a horrible piercing experience for me, the big crunch, eugh, I could not get it done again.

Anywho, it wasn't too bad at all. He had a little trouble screwing the balls on the barbell, and putting in the jewellery was all stinging. But it was alright really.

Pete kept asking me how I was, telling me I did great and giving advise on what jewellry he thought would look good.

As soon as I got up I felt woosy. I realized I hadn't actually eaten anything all day which was silly, so straight away ventured to McDonalds for a McFlurry which did the trick.

As soon as I got home, I stared at my ear for quite a bit. The bar was too long, and it looked nothing like the pictures I'd seen on here, so it wasn't love at first sight I'm afraid.

This was what it looked like the day it was done

But I did think that I could happily get a smaller bar and it'd be fab.

A few days on, I wake up, and realize I've slept on it all night. Now it hurt like a beast that morning, and was pretty much bright red. It swelled up pretty bad, so I cleaned it with savlon and hoped for the best

Now i'm pretty lazy with my piercings, because they like to heal themselves, so I didn't wanna over clean it. Though I am a bugger with picking scabs, so it's been pretty flared up.

It's swollen up now to fill the whole bar nearly, and if anything touches it, I get a nice little ping of pain.

So yes, on the day I thought it was a brilliant thing to heal, but now I'm having doubts

I'm hoping for the best from now on really, and cleaning it at least once a day, especially now that my Mum realized it was there and doesn't want it going infected or anything.

I'm going for savlon, because I love the smell, it just smells clean to me.

Not a wholey fun experience so far, but I'm sure I'll grow fond of it.

It looks lovely, but I always moan about ear piercings because they get aggravated easiest.

So it's not a screaming pain piercing, but I bet it's gonna be a beastie to heal.
