I love piercings and in all my free time I am on BME reading about or looking at them. I already have a lobe holes, but this was my first real piercing. I got my snug done about a month ago. It took me forever to get my mom to allow me to do it. At first I wanted an industrial and I still really do. I bothered my mom my entire eight grade year, I did everything I could, power points, good grades, reports about the piercing. She finally said I could get a regular cartilage piercing, so for my birthday I went to the mall and got my cartilage gunned. It was fine and never got infected or anything but I had to take it out for cheerleading, and it closed up. After searching BME I found the snug piercing and fell in love, I also noticed that no one has it in my school. I talked to my mom about it and she reluctantly agreed to let me get it done after cheer was over. That's when I began looking for studios and came across patriots. I read stories on BME of other people who had gone there and it seemed like a really nice, clean place.

Finally cheerleading was over. I was planning to go the next weekend but then there was a snowstorm that kept us in. But the next weekend the weather was fine and we went. My mom, sister, and I finally went. It was about 15 minutes away and the entire way there I was jittery and talkative. My mom was very skeptical about the place because it was in kind of a run-down building and you had to go up some stairs on the side to get there. When we got there Lora greeted us warmly and I told her I wanted my snug pierced. She got excited by that since it is not a very common piercing and I guess she was bored of the same old piercings. I was ready to go, but my mom wanted to make sure that everything was clean so Lora showed us the piercing room and all the sanitary methods they use to insure it's clean and safe. Then she gave us an aftercare sheet and explained the aftercare. She was so nice and answered all our questions very nicely and didn't act like we were bothering her with all the questions we asked.

Finally I was ready to go. While I filled out the forms my mom talked to some other girls in the shop who were getting tattoos. Then we paid our $50 and went back into the little piercing room. Then we decided on the jewelry she told me to get a crb because it would accommodate for any swelling. We also went for a 14g.I sat down in the chair while Lora set everything up. She explained what all the tools were and what they were used for. Then we decided on the placement. Since I am not very good at making choices it took like 15 minutes to finally get it where I wanted, which didn't bother Lora at all. Then we were ready. She first cleaned my ear with alcohol then Iodine and got the needle and jewelry out. She gave me a little pierced beanie baby dog to hold during the piercing and I also made my mom hold my hand. When she had the receiving tube and needle on my ear waiting for me to tell her to go, I freaked about the pain and was like "I'm not sure that I want to do this" my mom and Lora both laughed at this. I wasn't ready but I said ok. And she went. It hurt pretty badly, like sharp intense pain. I don't cry or anything, but after it was over I was just like "oww, that hurt". Then I realized that there was this huge needle in my ear which kind of freaked me out and I was like "put in the ring, hurry up". Then she slid the jewelry through, which didn't hurt at all, but screwing the ball on did a little. Then she cleaned the blood off (not a lot) and put this green gel on it.

When we were finished she handed me the mirror and I loved it I was so excited and happy. Then she started to explain the aftercare again but I was too excited to listen. When we left I told her thank you and how much I loved it. On the way home I called my friend who also loves piercings and was like "I just got my snug done". When I got home I felt like I was going to pass out and had to drink some Gatorade. I think it was from all the adrenalin. I showed my dad and he was like "that looks horrible", and I was kind of upset that he didn't like it, but my cleaning lady did, And even though my mom wouldn't admit it she likes it too. That night it was fine and there was only minor swelling. The next day at school I showed everyone and they loved it. I cleaned it with dial everyday like I was told but at first it was too sore to rotate the ring.5 Days later it got extremely red, swollen and hot. We went to the doctors and they told me it was infected. They said that if it wasn't healed in 3 days I would have to take it out and go to the hospital and get an IV so I don't get toxic shock. I got heavy antibiotics and an antibiotic cream for it and when we went back to the doctor it was better.

3 weeks later it is doing much better. I now can rotate it with the dial which I think helps with the cleaning. It gets bumped around sometimes with friends and grandparents hugging me and clothes knocking it but I try to be as careful as possible and keep my hair off of it.

I love my snug. Patriots was wonderful. Lora was so nice and friendly and she knew what she was talking about. I really trust her. I plan to go back soon and change my crb to a curved barbell and get my navel pierced with my 2 friends who also want theirs done.

But I still have to deal with my mom on that topic. It didn't hurt that bad and it's a wonderful and different piercing. You should definitely get it done.
