When I was 13, my friends started stretching their ears. The first person I know who did it was my friend "Kay" who stretched to a 4. When I first saw it, I was kind of scared--not that i didn't like it, it just looked painful because her ears were bleeding.

One of my friend's older sisters also decided to stretch her ears. She started at a 16, and skipped to a 12. She said it wasn't that bad, probably because the size wasn't that big.

The more I saw it, the more I grew to like it. Every time I went to the mall or the movies, I would see people with stretched ears. Every time I walked into Hot Topic or Spencers, I would see all this really spiffy jewelry for stretched ears. I asked my friends, and they said gauged ears would suit me, so I decided to stretch my ears.

About 6 months before, I had my ears gun pierced at hardly a 20g. I didn't know what they were then, so my friend tried to shove a 16g in my ear and it hurt. I decided to go get some 18g for myself. We went into the bathroom at the mall, cleaned off my ears, and they went right in.

The next day my mom took me to get a 2nd piercing, (yes, gun pierced, shame on me. What can I say--I'm only 14 years old.)

I later bought some 16g-8g and went a bit too fast. After a week, I put in 16g, the next day I easily put in 12g, and the next day a 12. My ears were a bit sore, so I waited another week. Okay, here's my big mistake.

I decided that since my ears were so stretchy, I would skip a 10 and try an 8. The taper went in fairly easy. The next day, they still hurt, so I decided to take them out and clean them. My ears bled so much that the blood from one ear filled 4 cotton balls. I stuck the 8g back in, and left them in until the swelling went down (about 3 days.) For the next week I thought I would cry whenever I moved the taper around, and it took a while for all the scabs to get out. This was also around the time that I decided to take my 2nd piercing studs out of my ears.

Not wanting the bleeding to happen again, I waited 2 weeks before I would stretch any more.

Then I went out and got some acrylic 6-2g on clearance. I wanted acrylic because it's a lot lighter.

I also did a 3rd hole myself around this time. They got infected, for I have a bad habit of playing with my ears when I get bored in class. It spread to the 2nd holes. My worst fear would be that my stretched ones would get infected, so I cleaned them often. I took the 2nd and 3rd ones out, though. The 2nd was too close to my first ones, and If I wanted to go to a 0g, I would have to take them out.

I put the 6g tapers in, and the next day I put the plugs in as fast as I could, for I feared they would bleed again. The same thing went for my 4 gauges after another 2 weeks, and then 2 weeks later I stretched to a 2.

I also decided to do a cartilage piercing myself, with a needle and a circular barbell at an 18g. Out of my pure stupidity, I tried to pierce my ear lobes a 2nd time (again) with some cheap studs. The next day I realized that this wasn't a good idea, so I took them out.

Now my earlobes consisted of a 2g and a whole bunch of scar tissue.

All throughout this time, my friends were borrowing my tapers and plugs that no longer fit me. Stretched ears seem to have become quite common among my big group of friends at school. It is rather funny when some people ask how I got a particular pair of crescents or talens in. I take it out and show them, and a lot of people think it's "gross."

Now, two week later, I bought some 0g tapers and plugs. I'm going to wait atleast another week before I try a 0g. I'm also thinking about re-doing my 2nd holes when i'm done stretching. I might stop at the 0, but I'm considering a 00g, as long as my older sister doesn't kick me. Many people say I will one day regret this when I have to work, but my dream is to become a professional body piercer, so I think this would actually be a good experience for me.

Some good lessons learned: never do your own piercings, gun-piercing ladies know nothing, and never skip a gauge unless you're prepared for some pain, or maybe even a blowout.
