I have had a lot of experience with piercings in my life. I have my rook, tragus, 2 point helix industrial, tongue-web, both sides of my nose, and my lobes are stretched to 4 gauge tunnels. My most recent addition to my piercings is my Daith. None of my piercings have hurt very much and I'm lucky for that. I tend to get too many piercings at one time though, and it ends up hurting a lot when healing. So after waiting almost 4 months, I decided it would be the right time for another. I had been wanting another piercing for a long time and had seen pictures of Daith piercings around the net. I thought it was an interesting piercing that wouldn't be much more painful than my rook. I was soon to realize how wrong that really was.

I had been going to the same piercer at the same studio for every piercing I have. I once tried to go to another studio but I felt like I was going behind my piercers (Joey) back. I thought it would be best to return to him at Lorraine's in Red Deer. He always does the best he can, and never fails to make me happy. I trust him in any and every choice he makes.

So I decided to go and finally get something done. Thankfully Joey(my piercer) was there at the time, so I asked him if he had time to do a piercing for me. And like always, I told him I was stuck between a couple piercing choices. I wanted either my daith, my rook again, my conch, or my tragus. So he sat me down and checked everything out. He then told me to get comfortable and lie down. I had my friend with me, so naturally she had to hold my hand. Joey got out all of his equipment and told me he was going to surprise me with what piercing he would do for me. He got the O.K. from my friend, Jackie, and went to mark it. I honestly had NO idea what piercing he was doing for me, but I didn't mind the surprise. The next thing I know I could feel this sharp pain in some strange part of my ear. I squeezed Jackie's hand so hard I thought she would be in more pain than I was. About 3 seconds later I could finally feel the last push of the needle. Not only could I feel it, but I could actually hear it. During those 3 seconds I thought I was going to pass out, not from the needle but from the pressure being put onto that tiny piece of my ear. I looked at it after and fell in love with my new Daith piercing and knew it was worth the pain!

But that wasn't the worst part. It was not long ago, about 2 weeks, when I noticed some scaring on my precious Daith. I was worried that it was a keloid but I went to my piercer and they assured me that it was a damaged piercing. They also told me it was very probable that it would become infected. I thought it would be best to start cleaning it more, seeing how I hadn't been cleaning it that much lately. But the Daith was infected and I knew cleaning would just irritate it further. Then I realized just last week that it spread to my industrial. So that is why I call it my evil Daith, because it not only ruined my industrial, but my Daith was looking terrible too. Finally the infection has stopped, but there are two very visible, but small, bumps on each piercing. It really upset me, but I knew that the bumps would be easier to solve than the infection was. My new plan is to do as many sea salt soaks as possible and use as much vitamin E oil as I have in my house. Vitamin E oil is a very promising product to use on piercings, I know from personal experience. I recommend the use of vitamin E oil to anyone who has been having trouble with their piercing.

I'm really hoping that my Daith and industrial will end up fine. I'm pretty sure the swelling and bumps have gone down slightly. The lesson to be learned from my experience is that you should always remember to take care of your piercings, and to keep an infection under control if it comes to that.

The next piercing I am going to get will be my vertical labret, my belly button, my eyebrow, or the left side of my lip. I'm going to be staying away from cartilage piercings, at least until my industrial and Daith clear up and start to look and feel better. I'm hoping that will be soon!
