My Industrial
At A Glance Author Andy Contact bullets_be_gone@yahoo.com IAM searching_for When Three months ago Artist Tom Cat Studio Permanent Solutions Location Jackson, MN I would like to start this out with an introduction about myself. I live in a very narrow-minded town in MN, when I say town I actually mean village. Anyway I'm 16, and have 0g lobes, my beautiful 14g industrial, and my DIY 14g right nipple. I'm a Buddhist who likes to listen to Metal, Reggae, and anything with a heavy beat. I play the bass guitar and drums. Now let's get to the industrial.
Industrial piercings have and will always be one of my favorite piercings. But just about the only thing I knew about them was the name itself. I decided that if I was going to get this piercing I should at least know the basics like pain, aftercare, procedure, and etc. The best place for information on body mod's would have to be BME so I spent a few months researching the industrial, along with a few other things like suicide suspensions and septum piercings, both of which have yet to be performed.
The studio I was going to get the piercing in was a makeshift room, in the back of a hair salon, and Tom Cat, the piercer, was in town on Mondays and Tuesdays. So immediately after school I skated across town to the shop. We talked it over for a little while about gauge selection and the day we would perform the piercing. Which is the following Monday, so the very long wait begins.
Pretty much the rest of the week consisted of telling people about my soon to come adornment. Now all the kids in my school that are in to piercings are looking forward to seeing the piercing, so were all pretty stoked. The one thing I really like about piercing is the individualism about it, so after I explained the piercing to everyone about three people came up to me and told me they were getting it too. Now none of them have gotten them done to this day so I'm kind of happy about being the only kid in school with the industrial.
Well, Monday finally rolls around and I can't wait until school lets out, so I just skip the last hour of the school day and listen to Mudvayne and look at all the awesome industrials on BME. So I arrive at the shop and Tom Cat forgot the jewelry, so we reschedule for the following Monday. But this happens a few times and so I go to another shop and try getting it done but their policy states you need parents consent, so that option was done.
I finally decide to go back to Tom Cat and see if we can get the industrial, but we figured we would use a barbell instead of rings so that we had it straight. It takes a little while but the bar does arrive, the only problem being he could only get 14g instead of my wanted 16g. But the hell if I'm waiting any longer so that following Monday, Tom Cat brought the bar and we were good to go. Hurray!
I arrive at the shop and chat for awhile with Tom Cat, and I get situated in the chair. Now I've heard how painful industrials can be for some people so I'm shaking a little, but glad to finally be at this point. So he marks some placement and I decide to go with a completely horizontal one being I always see them at angles.
Now to be honest Tom Cat pierced the anti-helix first and it hurt so bad my feet just locked up. But I'm very glad that it was so painful because if I ever think about taking a piercing out that ones staying. Anyway, after he got the needle and the bar through that side he pierced my helix which was nothing. It felt rather more like a little pressure compared to the horrible pain of the other side. But just a comment to the pain I think that the needle got away from the jewelry or beat it through the cartilage. It felt like he got the needle all the way through and then forced the jewelry in the fresh whole, but hey who knows, I didn't have a mirror or anything. But that terrible pain changed the way I view life and I don't take it for granted as much anymore.
The aftercare was easy, just the basic rotation of jewelry and all I did was just use H2Ocean and keep it clean. I would suggest letting it heal with rings because the bar we used was a little tight and I didn't see much healing until I put in some horseshoes. But hey whatever works for you.
The best way to get pierced is by a professional and be sure to follow their aftercare instructions for the simple fact that they know what they are talking about.
If there are any questions or comments on my experience just give me a holler or something, happy and safe modifications. Thanks for listening to my experience and I hope you enjoyed it. iam:searching_for
