Ever since I was 8 years old, I have always wanted to have a piercing. I would look at my Spice Girls album and covet Mel C's nose piercing, but then changed my mind to having a lip ring. As I always aspired to be a doctor, my mom would tell me that people wouldn't trust on a doctor that had a piercing, so that put me off for quite a while. However, that never stopped me from loving piercings. Since then I have always adored piercings, of whatever kind they were. As I grew older, I changed my mind about being a doctor. However, I never got to pierce myself because of my family and my schools, as neither accepted piercings.

My parents thought that my obsession with piercings was just a phase, that in a few weeks or months I would forget about it. However, the years moved on (up to when I was 14) and my love for piercings grew with time, and when I saw a picture of a vertical industrial I COMPLETELY fell in love with it. The bad part was when I noticed how much cartilage it went through. I chickened out and decided to have a normal industrial. I insisted so much my mom let me have it done (I was 15 by then). I had also already bought the jewel (a very cute thunder-like industrial), so she really had no other choice.

We went to Banzai Piercing to have it done. They were really professional, we had to fill in a form for authorization - as I'm still a minor - and they told me my jewel was not big enough. Oh well, I ended up wearing it as an earring and bought another one there. Also twisted, but not as much as the other one. I went into the piercing room, which looked like a clean bathroom (it's the best comparison I could come up with; the room was small and white and very bright). The piercer (whose name I've forgotten) put on gloves and showed me the needle. She asked me to lie down on my left side - as the piercing was to be on my right ear - and she marked the spots. I started feeling nervous as I lay down, because EVERY SINGLE PERSON that found out I was going to do this piercing told me how much it hurt to have a needle go through cartilage. That hadn't put me down, and there I was, lying on the chair, nervous. She told me to breathe in, and put the needle through the top hole.

'WHAT? That was it? Wasn't it supposed to HURT?' I asked myself when the first hole was over. She then told me to breathe in again, and passed the needle through the second hole. This one hurt a bit more, but that still wasn't much. She put the piercing in and that was it. Hardly any pain, no screaming or swearing... nothing like I imagined. I was completely in awe with my piercing, I couldn't help looking at it and messing about with it - which I shouldn't do. The piercer made that pretty clear, but it didn't stop me.

I followed the after care intensely, I cleaned my piercing twice a day, and it didn't grow any keloids or migrate or anything. No problems at all. It healed perfectly in a few weeks.

***A tip for those who want to get an industrial and wear glasses - don't do the holes too high, the glasses are gonna end up hitting the piercing quite often, and that's not too nice. Not that it happened with me, as the piercer did mine lower down, but it happened to my friend.***

My mom liked my piercing, although she never admitted it. My dad didn't like it, he asked me why I kept on doing things to look uglier (because I also dyed my hair blue), but they never told me to remove it.

I LOVE my industrial. It's so big and colorful, and up to know I've only seen one other person with a twisted bar, so I feel more different with it.

Six months after getting my industrial done, I got an outer conch on my left ear and stretched my left lobe to 8 mm (almost 2/5 of an inch, i think). In total I have 3 normal earrings and my industrial on my right ear and 2 normal earrings, a stretched hole and my outer conch (linked to the last earring with a little chain *hearts*) on my left ear. In a few weeks I'm off to piercing my right nipple (as a secret) and next year (hopefully) I'm gonna pierce my lip. Only next year as it's gonna be when I'm free of school and over age.
