I've wanted an industrial since I saw one on this site. I thought they were so incredibly sexy. I already had 19 piercings, (18 on my ears, and my naval) and wanted to add this to my collection. I love my ears and I thought this would be an additional accessory I would absolutely LOVE. When I told my mom I wanted it, she said was that she didn't think it was attractive in the pictures we looked at, but I was positive I wanted this. She told me that I had to pay for it, and to make sure to take care of it, and she would take me to get it done. My mom is pretty easy going about piercings and what not, so I wasn't surprised she was taking me. My dad on the other hand, thought it was disgusting and didn't know why I could possibly want to "destroy" my ears.

Studio Planet Ink Tattoo and Piercing Location Toronto, Ontario, CAN A couple of days after mentioning the idea to my mom, we went downtown to Planet Ink Tattoo and Piercing. I knew from the beginning where I was going, my sister got her tattoo done there in the summer and they were so great and it was VERY clean. As we walked down Younge St. I could feel my stomach turning... I have a really high tolerance of pain, and I wasn't expecting to feel this anxious. When we enter the shop, I told the guy at the counter what I was looking to get,(Industrial and a new barbell) and he added up the prices. I had priced the procedure at about $90 bucks and I was right, plus the barbell and tax it can to around $120. I was introduced to Jubu or something( I think... I'll just call him J.. or did it start with a L.. Anyways, he had his own little experiment going on with his ears (big hollow spacers with weights)and had an animal print tattoo all over his back, neck, and arms. He was young and I was informed that he was very experienced. Next, I got led into the medium sized room with a green bed type thing in it.
Inside the room there were mirrors and sinks and shelves packed with antiseptics, gloves, and Q- tips. J said that my was exited to pierce me because I had perfect ears for it. (I know he probably just wants to get business but I felt good!) J started out by talking to me about what was going to happen and what he was going to do. He marked in a marker where he thought it would look fabulous, and told me to look in a mirror and tell him if I liked if. To give me more of a visual he used a Q- tip to show me where exactly the bar would go through my ear. Maybe he's just really good at what he does, but the first marks he made were perfect. EXACTLY! what I was imagining! He made a couple of more dots for himself and it looked perfect.
I sat back down and he prepped my ear. He got out the clamps and told me what is normal to feel when he clamps my ear, and to tell him what I'm feeling. He clamped the bottom portion first, and it didn't hurt AT ALL. It was just a little tingling sensation that actually kind of felt good. He made sure that he liked his work, and started to breath really paced. It was a steady long in and out breath to keep him steady, which made me feel A LOT safer and made me calm down a tad. He got out the 12 Gauge needle and 14 gauge bar and showed it to me. He asked me to take deep breaths like him and on my second out breath he pierced the bottom portion. To my surprise, It didn't hurt badly. I had read so many stories that told me it was going to hurt like a bitch. But in all honesty, it didn't, it stung for a second, but thats because I had a piece of metal being shoved through my ear, I couldn't see what he was doing at his point, but It felt like he was putting the bar in the one side. I didn't have time to see how that side felt, because sooner then I knew he was clamping the top mark. That part is a little uncomfortable, but only because the top part of your cartiledge is curved so he had to flatten it. We did the controlled breathing thing once again and the needle slide right through. The top one closer to my head hurt more then the bottom one and bled a little more, but nothing unbearable, nothing even remotely PAINFUL! He cleaned up my ear with Q- tips and put some special solution on it. He told me he was done and that I could look at in the mirror. I jumped up and practically run to the mirror. At this point my mom had come back in and was looking at it. The first thing I said when I looked at it was Quote: "Oh my god! It's so sexy!" My mom even agreed that she actually loved it and that it looked far better than the pictures we had looked at previously. J told me exactly how to care for it and gave me a sheet of instructions and Do's and Don'ts and some sterilized Q-tips to use. The only side affect was that it was hot and a tad sore. After he had changed my naval piercing for me, we were done and I now have an appointment to go in and get my tragus pierced, since thats J's specialty. I'm very very excited.
That night was incredible i couldn't stop staring at it, although I couldn't touch it yet since it was still pretty tender and warm. In the morning I felt, more confident, empowered and noticeable. I loved the way it made me feel. I'm the only one in our huge social group to have one. I love the way people look at me because it looks so painful. I ran around that whole day (and even today) telling people and showing them. I've been wearing my hair in a ponytail or clipped back to prevent my hair from getting in the way (and so that nobody can miss it walking by) And it doesn't hurt much at all. Pain killers help though, the only discomfort's are that I can only sleep on my right side and in the shower my hair gets stuck on it. I can't wait to go back next week and get my Tragus done, which my mom agreed to pay for by the way. After that I'm thinking Anti- Helix. :) J gave me the best piercing experience I could ask for and I'll be sticking with him and Planet Ink for the rest of my many piercings. I recommend them to everybody in Toronto.
It's only 3 days after and my already comfortable to touch it and its no longer tender and red.
