I've been super interested in piercings for probably the last four or so years. Since I am only fourteen my parents are pretty damn strict about what I can and can't get body mods wise. Basically I'm limited to ears only. I already had both lobes gauged down to 10's and 1 regular cartilage piercing in my right ear. I definitely wanted something that wasn't so boring or common in my area, which just so happens to be Rednecksville USA, so finding a unique piercing wasn't too hard. I decided I would browse around BME for a while to see if I could find anything interesting. That's when I saw it, the industrial piercing. I fell in love with it, as cliché and dumb as that may sound. Then it was time to save up the money and convince my parents to even let me get it.

So after Christmas I made sure that I saved at least 50 dollars and by January 1st my mom and I decided that the following weekend my mom was going to take me to House of Ink to get my oh so wanted industrial piercing. The day of the piercing I got extremely nervous. Which I guess was completely usual for a piercing. I made sure that I read some of the previously posted industrial stories on BME just to have a slight awareness of how painful it was going to be. Of course my luck just about EVERYONE had a different opinion of the pain level, but I expected that because everyone has a different pain tolerance. I think that's why my nerves were being so incredibly God-awful.
Anyways, around 3:00 P.M. we left the for the thirty minute drive to House of Ink. Once we arrived we (my mom, my sister Ashley and my friend Denise and myself) we walked in and they were pretty freaking packed. After a couple minutes a guy working there came over and asked what it was we were wanting and I told him I wanted an industrial and he asked for my age and if I she was my mom and such, then handed my mom the paperwork. We had to wait for three navel piercings before it was my turn, but I was glad at the time because I really wasn't so sure of the pain. I don't think any piercing has ever made me that nervous. I walked back into the room and instantly started to feel more comfortable.
My piercer ,Angie, sterilized the chair and table with spray and dried them with a paper towel. She marked the hole and told me to look in the mirror to make sure that's where I wanted it and I told her it was. I walked back over and sat down and she asked if I was ready and I told her I was. She counted to three and pushed the needle into the top hole. It didn't hurt that bad but definitely didn't tickle. Next she put the jewelry through the top hole. She counted to three again and pierced the second hole. To my surprise it was less painful than the top. That surprise me because from what I understood the second hole is almost always more painful because the ear is already under stress from the first hole. She put the jewelry all the way through, screwed the balls on and cleaned it. Overall the most painful part was probably putting the jewelry through but it got pretty damn sore afterwards.
I've had it for probably two weeks now. I'm completely and totally in love with it. I've made some definite mistakes in the healing process such as jumping into a mosh pit. That and I have slight problems with snagging it on my shirt. But all in all it's worth it all the time. It's a unique piercing from where I am and that's part of why I chose an industrial. I'm definitely one to want to stand out from the rest.
So to anyone out there who is looking for a new piercing, especially if you have strict parents..I suggest something such as an industrial. It shouldn't be too hard to convince your parents. That and the pain during is very minimal. Just be sure to clean it twice a day with softsoap unscented liquid soap and then some saline solution. And to anyone looking for a piercing who lives in the the Johnson City, Elizabethton, Kingsport or any close metros I most definately suggest House of Ink because they are very sterile and very friendly.
