I had industrial piercing and ended up having to take it out because I didn't like it so much and it was scarring and not looking so good. That was in November. So I was really itching to get a new piercing. I had talked with a friend about a septum and then we thought we should get it together, but she was heading to capetown, so I had to put it on hold.

So looking through BMEzine I came across a picture of a transverse lobe, something I'd wanted before, but had put on hold when I saw it only went horizontal decided against. So I really liked it again when I realized you don't have to make it go through horizontally and basically it could go any way you want. And since there weren't many and I'd never met anyone with something similar (same with my orbital) I decided that it'd been sweet. And read about it and asked about it.
My friend goes to S&M in Sarasota a lot and I'd been there for my industrial and new jewelry for my orbital. So the day one of my buddies was heading down to Sarasota I went with him and went to Crea I got there and he wasn't there, so we waited and looked through his portfolios and saw pictures of our friend as well as some other crazier piercings.
He asked what I had wanted and told him a transverse lobe but vertical one, and then he said no because of the cartilage, but I could do this, and he titled it sideways some and I said sure.
He got back and pulled me back and went through all the general stuff with forms and ID's etc. Then went in and told me to lay down, I didn't think about it, but as soon as he said you have to lay perfectly still I realized it's best to listen to him, and lay all the way down. The way his chair was set up my friends kind of had a blocked view, but since I had nothing to hold on to, I really just squeezed my own hands and like kicked my feet really hard, but not enough to create some sort of distraction. So I'm laying down and my ear is getting poked as I guess he was trying to make sure or whatever, I don't know my eyes were closed and I was in a different place and not totally paying much attention at this point. So he poked it through and it felt like it was about five minutes, when I'm sure it really was just thirty seconds (as my friends tell me). The jewelry hurt more actually. He just went quickly and steadily and it didn't even bleed much.
He told me about aftercare stuff again and I thanked him and hopped out. It bled and was sore that day and the next. But now about a week later it's just fine. If I put too much pressure on it (holding my phone to my ear with my shoulder) it hurts some. It got a bruise on it, or I noticed one on it within a day or two. I figured it may be from laying on it, I just could never sleep on my other side. And I didn't hurt when I slept on it really, and playing with it, feeling the bar through the ear, plus now it's starting to seem to not be so bruised. He told me to come back in a three weeks, and since nothing is a major concern yet I'll check about that when I head back, cause I didn't hear about it before. It is not bleeding anymore and not even a lot of nasty stuff is coming out of it anymore.
That's it. Everyone sees it and thinks it's like my orbital which I have in a similar placement on my other ear. Then I nicely tell them "no, it goes through" It's fun. I'd recommend it if I had to. I really like that it is something that is not very common yet and that it matches the other side of my head, which I think may have been unintentional. Most everyone thinks it's real cool and good looking which is an added bonus. Plus kind of playing with the bar, although I shouldn't maybe, just feeling it through my ear, it feels kind of weird. I like it.
I am actually kind of convinced that this is more painful than a septum (not that I really know) so I think when my friend gets back from South Africa, I may be ready for that, money permitting.
