I have always wanted piercings and tattoos since I was younger but in the type of home I grew up in I knew that wasn't going to happen. As I got older I tried convincing my mom to let me get something done but her boyfriend and she would just tell me that I wasn't allowed to and that if I did I would be in big trouble. When I turned eighteen I told everyone that I wanted money for Christmas and for my birthday. When I finally saved up enough I went straight to a piercing and tattoo place that I had heard about. I went in and knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted my tongue pierced and I was going to get it that night. I went through with it and have loved it ever since. I managed to keep it from my mom for a couple of weeks but then she caught on. She was extremely upset but got over it really quick. I knew that I would eventually want to get some more.

I have wanted my cartilage pierced for a couple of years now but just never had the guts to do it. I have a friend who had wanted to get another piercing also so one day we decided to check out this place we heard about. We walked in and it was full of people and they seemed to have alot of returning customers so we figured they must be good. We checked out the prices and they were awesome, so we asked for their hours and decided that the next day would be the day, the day we would get our piercings. I was nervous and at times thought that I wouldn't be able to go through with it. I read so many horror stories about cartilage piercings and about how they bled a lot and never healed so I was definitely freaked out. I have had my tongue pierced and re-pierced so I just kept telling myself that it couldn't be too bad.
Well the next day after building up enough courage we got to the place and walked up the stairs. We saw the piercer and he started talking to us about the night before which immediately made us comfortable because it showed that he remembered us. Once we were inside I knew there was no turning back. I had my friend go first so that she couldn't chicken out and as I watched I became extremely nervous and my palms started sweating. The guy was very friendly and answered all of our questions, and we had alot. I was very worried that I was going to bleed all over the place. He told me that some people do and some people don't. I started getting nauseous and tried to keep cool.
My friend has had her cartilage pierced for years and she told me and the guy that when she got hers done it was with a gun. The guy then told us that guns are the worst way to get piercings because guns cannot be sterilized. So any of you that are thinking about getting a piercing I don't recommend going anywhere that use guns. I had my lobes pierced the second time with a gun and after 3 months it still hadn't healed and that's possibly why. I may have been a victim of a dirty gun.
So after the questions he asked me to take a seat on the table and face him. As he was preparing I noticed that my feet started shaking. I told myself to just sit there and take it. He turned around and marked my ear and asked if I was ready. I said yes so he came closer and within a second I felt a sharp pain in my ear. I wouldn't necessarily say it hurt. It just felt like someone was pinching my ear. I then realized what a baby I was about it. Sure enough I did bleed a little but it was okay. The piercer made sure it was all cleaned up before I left. To my surprise I didn't hear the pop or cracking noise that some say they hear when they get a cartilage piercing.
Now that I've done it and realized that it wasn't so bad I plan on going back to get an industrial on my right ear. If anyone reading this is planning on getting their cartilage pierced and are nervous about it, don't be. It was quick and easy and have I mentioned that it looks awesome. I recommend getting this done. You won't regret it. So now that I've gotten my fifth piercing I plan on getting those tattoos I've wanted for so long. Stay tuned for those stories coming in the near future.
