Well I had been stood up. I was in London alone again and had a few hours to kill.

I instantly thought about getting my ears punched as I am too impatient to stretch my ears and i couldn't do it on my right ear anyway as its all scar tissue.

So i made my way to the studio that was famous and recommended by friends. Its important, I feel to go somewhere where you trust the piercer.

I went into the store and instantly felt relaxed. There was a lively atmosphere and I was immediately asked if I could be helped.

I told them what I wanted done and had to go through the normal procedure of filling out forms and medical.

I had to wait for a little while whilst they sorted out whether I could get it done because of the scar. Then I was led into a medium room which felt clinical but made me happy because it felt very clean with lots of sharps boxes for needles and sterilising equipment.

I had two piercers as I was warned it may get messy.

I was told to sit on the bed which is the same kind you see in hospitals. The girls told me what they were going to do and how long it would take.

I was told I couldn't have anesthetic because they weren't registered nurses. I thought this was a bit strange and I got a bit scared at this point.

They noticed this and told me to relax or they wouldn't be able to do anything. So I trusted them and did.

They put a white paper bib on my chest the kind you get in dentists because I was to expect blood.

I was told to relax whilst they got everything they needed. So I laid back and close my eyes. Before I noticed they were asking me if I was ready. They made sure I knew what they were going to do and took the punches out of their sterile packaging in front of me and laid out all the equipment, so I knew it was sterile.

I was told to lay back and relax taking three deep breaths and I was warned I would feel a lot of pressure which I did. It felt like my head was getting crushed. I got a bit dizzy as I felt the punch crunch through my ear lobe with a few twists. I felt no pain whilst she was doing it and as she removed it. I only noticed that she was through my ear when she said are you ready to take it out and she pulled to towards my view. It looked as if my ear had exploded as blood sprayed across my shirt and kept flowing.

The other girl started to clean up my blood as the piercer threw the punch into a sharps box and took my jewellery from the autoclave. They mopped up as much blood as possible before smoothly putting it in my blood soaked ear.

The assistant piercer kept cleaning my ear as well as putting disinfectant on it.

I was asked if I was ok as the piercers laughed and said it was amazing that I didn't cry even though I bled a lot. They said people cry when they get their ears pierced never mind getting it punched out. This made me relax as I was worried about what they had done because of the enormity of the procedure.

I was cleaned up and they pretty much stopped my ear bleeding (after about half an hour) before they started on the other. They made sure I wanted to get them both done at the same time because it may be hard to sleep, but I said I didn't mind. I was again told to lay back and relax and the procedure was done again. The second ear bled a bit more as all the blood had gone to my head. I was cleaned up which took about 40 minutes this time. But I wouldn't have noticed that I had been cut in anyway when I looked at my ears in the mirror.

I was told to lay down for a little while as I had lost lots of blood. My shirt was covered in blood even down the arms. While I was resting I was told how to clean it and I was also shown as the piercer had the same thing done.

I was given the regulation question sheet and a contact card for the studio in case I had any problems.

They gave me a drink and left me to sit for 15 mins. They checked I was ok then let me go.

Me being me played with my new ears as soon as I left the studio and started bleeding but was told this was to be expected. I got many funny looks on the way home.

Despite being a fiddler my ears healed up fine.

I was told to wait 6 weeks before I stretched them again which I did.

My ears are now fine and I love them.

Don't be scared about getting this done

But think about it first as its permanent
