I was so excited when my parents agreed to let me have an industrial piercing, it ended up being kind of a delayed Christmas present. I've only had it three days now, and it's my favorite piercing, I'm still in the stage where I run to a mirror to look at it.

I walked in and a thin girl with awesome bangs and a bit of a Texas accent asked me what I wanted, I told her I wanted an industrial piercing. She came around to see us and introduced herself, her name was Sonia, she was the one that would be piercing me. She gave my mother and I a notary slip to take to the bank and get filled out. We'd planed to get the slip filled out then come back and get my ear pierced, but Sonia had to check and see if her flaky babysitter was going to be able to watch her kids or not. It turned out she wouldn't be making it and Sonia was going to have to go back home before they got home from school. She told me she was going to be training a girl that would be coming down that weekend, she said it would be great for her to see an industrial be done and asked if I would wait two days, and she'd take $10 off the price. I agreed and I now had an appointment for 12:00 Saturday the 7th.
I was so excited I could hardly sleep Friday night. I woke up at about 6 in the morning on Saturday out of pure excitement. I was so happy I was going to finally get my industrial, I was a little worried about pain though, okay really worried, one of my friends has one and she said it hurt A LOT and I'd been reading stories on here and it seemed final, an industrial was really going to hurt. But I didn't care, I figured if my friend could do it I could, and I'd only have to go through it once then it would be done and look awesome.
11:30 came around and I was over at my boyfriend's apartment, we got ready and he took me over to the tattoo parlor where we met my mom. We came in and Sonia greeted us and gave me some papers to fill out while she set everything up. When I was done and she was all done as well, her trainee still hadn't shown up. She asked me if it would be okay if she went and got her then brought her back, I agreed and we waited. As I sat there waiting for her to come back I started to feel a bit nervous.
Sonia and her trainee walked in and we all went into the back. She sat me down into the chair, a lot like a salon chair or a small dentist's chair. She set out all the things she'd be using, and let me look at them while she explained them to me and her trainee. My hands started to sweat but I was still so excited, I was shaking a little bit with excitement and nervousness.
Sonia cleaned my ear and ran a small light all over the cartilage, I guess to make sure it wouldn't be hitting any veins. She picked out a bar that would be a bit big for my ear for the swelling and so I would be able to clean it better. She opened up the needle and the receiving tube. She messed around with the receiving tube a lot and I started to get really nervous now, bracing myself for the needle. She started at the top of my ear and picked the best angle for the receiving tube and then angled the needle. She explained to me the most important part of piercings like an industrial is the angle of the needle.
She had found the perfect spot and told me to take a deep breath, I though she was going to do it while I was breathing but then she told me to breath back out, and that's when she did it, she kept pushing and told me to keep breathing. It really didn't hurt after it'd realized she was done with the top part, I laughed a little and said it felt really weird. The feeling reminded me a lot of when I used to pierce my fingernails only it was in my cartilage.
Again she told me to breathe and she pierced the bottom, I felt this one more than the top. After she had the needle through both parts she slipped the jewelry in. I think that was the only part that actually hurt, but it was just for a moment. She told me the jewelry was in she'd just have to twist the little balls on. After that the bottom part was bleeding so she held a paper towel to it until it stopped.
She asked if I was light headed at all, I said no, and she let me get up and look at it in the mirror. It looked even better than I'd imagined, I immediately fell in love with it. She was very proud of it too, she told me it was one of the best looking ones she'd done, which made me feel even better. She wants me to come back in another week or so when it's pretty much healed looking so she can take a photo for the display wall.
In March I'm going to get my belly button pierced a second time, and in May I want to get my lip done, and I already know I want Sonia to do it!
