The History:

I've been fascinated by the Industrial piercings for like a while, but I haven't seen any body have it in person. After having my left cartilage done [yes, I know, everyone has that.], I forgot about getting the industrial for a while. Then one day, out of no where, I started going through this bme site and came across the industrial again. Read some stories and looked at some pictures.

The Next Day [23rd of December 05]:

I spent a few hours thinking about getting it done. So in the afternoon, I made my decision. I made my way to the local piercing place where a lot of people get their piercings done [I got my cartilage there].

The Wait:

I was quite amped up and wasn't scared at all. I just wanted to get it done straight away. But of course, as it was the school holidays, there were people waiting. About 2 people later and me wandering around outside to other shops, I sat down in "the" chair.

Oh Shit!:

Okay, at this point, I was not scared - yet. The piercer was nice, he was just talking about it, while cleaning the jewellery [silver barbell, one end spiked, one end rounded] and taking out his stuff [the needles, gloves, antiseptic spray, etc]. He marked my ear then asked if he could do something a bit different and I said yeah so he re-marked it [the top was right next to my ear and the side was pretty high up compared to the usual ones I have seen on this site]. By the way, this is on my right ear, I would have gotten it on my left ear but I already had my cartilage done there and I didn't want to change it so yeah. The piercer takes out the needle from the package and I started to panic a tiny bit.

Then the Needle Goes In..:

The first hole gets pierced and IT HURT LIKE A BITCH! Seriously, it hurt so bad I was expecting to be like my cartilage piercing but it wasn't. Well maybe it wasn't because the first hole to be pierced was the one at mid ear, not the very top one. Then the second hole gets pierced which actually did hurt also.

What IS That?!

I look in the mirror and see a tube thing stuffed through the holes as the piercer cleans the blood away. I was like what the hell is that? It looked funny. My cousin, who was there with me, was freaked out by it and had to look away.

Clean, at last:

Yeah, my ear did bleed quite a bit. So when it was finally cleaner, the piercer puts the barbell on and screws the ends in and that bit didn't hurt at all.

Hot Stuff:

My ear gets really hot and red. But after that couple seconds of pain, it didn't hurt at all. Just was hot + a bit numb. I talk to the piercer some more and check my ear out in the mirror, pay 90$ [Australian currency] and leave with a bottle of antiseptic spray for piercings + a piece of metal in my ear.

Aftercare:

It's been 5 days and it's been pretty good. No weird discharge or anything, however, I did accidentally sleep on it about twice which caused it to bleed in the night. What i do for aftercare is clean my ear with sea salt water first thing in the morning and at night and also spraying it with the antiseptic spray about once or twice in the day just in case germs go on it or something, I never had an infection with any of my piercings [i only have 3 other ones, ahaha] and I didn't plan to get one with this so my aftercare may sound weird to some. so far, nothing bad has happened and so it's all good. I try not to let anything bump into my ear because that'll cause my ear to ache for like the next half hour or something!

I LOVE my industrial though :)

What's Up Next:

In about 2 months [8 weeks], when my ear heals, I will go back to the

piercer to have a thicker barbell put in because I got a thinner one in so the needle was thinner [that was stupid of me because pain is pain.]. And I'm planning to get a second cartilage in line under my other one on my left ear. What looks good with the industrial is the tragus but I don't really want to get that one [I heard the tragus is less painful than the industrial.]

To Pierce or Not To Pierce?:

YES! Although it hurts like hell to pierce, the pain is only for like 5 seconds maximum, not even, and you're left with an awesome and unique piercing. So far, I haven't been out much so I haven't got a reaction from people but when I did go out with my friends the next day, they were kind of freaked out because the piercing looked painful but they thought it looked cool.

Good Luck with your piercing and I hope this has been informative.

P.S My parents don't know so don't tell them, okay?
