First before I begin I'd like to apologise for my lack of technical knowledge, I can't honestly claim to have any idea about bar types, length or thickness. All my piercings so far have been done at The Studio in Afflecks Palace, Manchester and I've always just trusted their judgement; it is there job to know this stuff after all. Plus I have never actually been given a choice any further than whether to have a ring or bar. Though I do pride myself on knowing the correct names for most piercings which is mostly from going on here ill admit and am thankful for, I just feel so much better asking for a piercing with the right name than just pointing saying 'just there...'. Also looking through all the simply amazing pictures has given me even more ideas, I now want over 25 holes made in my body lol along with tattoos, and I have plenty of self-made scarification I just wasn't aware it was a actual thing.
At A Glance Author Coop Contact Coop@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist dont know her name Studio The Studio, Afflecks Palace Location Manchester This story is the tale of my third helix piercing its starts, as all my piercings do, with me rather randomly deciding that I feel like having a piercing done and therefore dragging a friend to The Studio and seeing what I can afford. I have all my piercings planned out already just not the exact dates of when to have them done so their not completely random they actually have all had a lot of thinking behind them. This time it was my friend Helen who got dragged along.
Im not new to having piercings done and the helix would be my 8th and I've never had a problem with the pain, infact I rather like the feeling (im a odd girl). As usual I signed all the papers stating im over 18 (im actually 14 but oh well) and sat down. My ear was then cleaned and marked up and I was told to relax as the needle was put through, so far no problems. The pain was minimal and defiantly bearable. The piercer then went to get the ring to put through leaving the needle and tubing in my left ear and then attempted to put the ring through.
This is when we hit a problem. The first I knew of it was hearing her say ' oh shit' not something you want to hear when getting a piercing. The tubing had fallen out so she then had to put the needle back through my ear. That hurt like hell, it stung more then anything and wouldn't stop. But I thought atleast its over with, but no that would be too easy. A further two times the tubing went wrong, so a further two times I went through the agony of having the needle go through again.
In the end she, what I can only describe as, manhandled my ear and forced the ring through my ear and finally it was done...well almost. The ball then had to be put on which I usually find a little uncomfortable but this time as my ear was so sore it killed but NOW it was done and I looked in mirror and fell in love with my new piercing. I then went and payed up it only costing me £15.
Even though at several points I felt like telling her to give up and just leave it I was determined to leave with a third helix and it was worth it I love my three rings in a row. It hasn't put me off at all I've since had my tragus done and have a forth and final helix planned as well as a daith and industrial and that's just on my ears. I have almost an addiction to getting piercings I love the way they look and usually the way they feel. Only problem is as im only 14 im still in school and my school is very strict and says absolutely no piercings are to be worn but luckily I have long hair to keep my ears covered so its just facial piercings that are off limits, for now atleast. That and my mum is not a big fan but she started off saying I could have my lobes done and that's it but I now have I total of 9 piercings!
Oh and I also had a strange sense of pride when she told me she'd never seen anyone bleed so much from a helix piercing, I felt like such a badass!!! And a little better for swearing rather loudly throughout the 'ordeal' which the girl waiting outside appeared to have heard as she looked like she was now having serious second thoughts about having hers done, so being the lovely person I am (well...) I flashed her my biggest smile and walked out like id not just had blood running down my ear!
