Hey again. I am still in the gorgeous twilight zone of having had a new piercing added to my body today. I got two snugs done, one each side. I already had my tongue pierced once in the centre and four lobe piercings (all with a gun- despite all the health stuff and the damage they do I've never had a problem with them) one of which has healed over due to my own stupid fault of taking my earring out last week and not putting one back in and now I will have to spend half an hour tonight soaking and gently working the piercing open again (I soak the ear in warm salt water then use a thin straight earring bar to get it open, then put a stud through, after washing everything with alcohol)

Now to my story: I was going into the city with my mates, and I told mum I was going to get a new piercing. When she dropped me off at the train station she told me if I got any new piercings then I would have to leave school cos my schools conservative and they don't like me ;) So I went into the city and met up with my mates, had some breakfast, told them I was getting pierced today, and then we went into the nearest piercing place we found. I had researched some places for prices (the average being $55 per piercing) but this guy would do it for $30 each. The place was clean, the guy was friendly, and so in I went.

I was really nervous cos everyone says how painful it is, how they bleed or pass out or whatever, but I wanted it done so badly. No one I know has it, and I haven't seen anyone with it, and I really, really like it.

I told him what I wanted, he marked it and after three goes I was happy with the placement so he told me to lie down and put my hands under my bum. So I lay down and he said 'putting the clamps on now' and I said 'Ow, this hurts. I'm not sure I can do the piercing' and my friend who was watching said 'You dickhead, it's already done!' and I said 'Really?' and the guy said 'Yep, now the other one' and that took a little longer and I moved my legs, saying 'Ow ow ow' (afterwards I realised that that was probly why it took so long) and then the guy put in the CBRs and closed them. I didn't hear any crunching noise, but I did bleed a little but it clotted quickly (and now I've got a black lump of blood around the ring where it goes into and out of my skin).

I got up, looked at them, fell in love, and then one of my friends said 'Emma, you had a needle this big sticking out of your ear!' and she had her fingers like 20cm apart.

The guy said 'That's a really uncommon piercing. Congratulations, you're an individual' he winked. I replied 'Just like everybody else'

I brought some ear cleaning spray (because as he pointed out I was more likely to use it then do salt soaks), and would have tipped him but we don't do that in Australia, and left. My ears felt a little hot but didn't really throb. We went to the movies (I recommend holding frozen coke next to, but not on, your ear) and then walked around a bit. I didn't feel dizzy or queasy like I did with my tongue piercing. It started to hurt a little later, around 4pm (I had it done at around 10:30am) so I took a couple of Advil. I think that Advil is better then Nurofen or Panadol for piercings, but you should find what's best for you. I haven't slept on it yet, because it was only done today, but if you want more info on how it's going then e-mail me and I'll give you any info you want. The guy told me to clean it twice a day, spray once more, and make sure to get rid of all the crusties when I'm in the shower. Next I want a helix and rook, but I'm going to have to wait three months for these to heal, and I'd like my nipple done one day.

Please remember that a piercing shouldn't just be a phase. There is a lot that can go wrong if a professional does it, and even more that can go wrong if you do it yourself. Remember to take care of them, love them, clean them, and do right by work/school/parental obligations. Also research places till you find one you trust and somewhere the price seems fair. Don't go somewhere because it's cheap, because they might fuck you around by not using the right stuff or something. After all that, piercings rock and there is nothing like feeling a needle through your flesh and what you feel afterwards. Well that's my 800 words, sorry I rambled, now good luck and happy responsible (sorry to sound like a mum) piercing!!!!!
