For as long as I can remember I have wanted my tragus pierced. I do not remember when or where I first heard about it but I have wanted one since then. About a year ago me and my best friend decided we wanted to get pierced while on vacation. Since I was pretty short on cash I had to choose between my belly button or my tragus. This was a relatively easy decision to make because I had wanted my belly button so much longer and I already had three lobe piercings and wasn't sure if it would look to crowded. But my friend has three lobe piercings as well and she got her tragus done that day and it was adorable. From then on I was in love.
At A Glance Author britney Contact britney@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Jason Studio Tattoo Zone So I live in a really small town and the only place around here to get pierced is in the garage of a man named after a farm animal (enough said) so to get pierced by a pro you have to go out of town. Far out of town. For Christmas by amazing boyfriend told me when we go Christmas shopping he would take me to get my tragus pierced.
About 2 weeks ago we went shopping. While at the mall I kept debating whether or not I was actually going to go through with it. (I am such a baby I can never make up my mind) While we were checking out at a jewelry store I noticed that the lady checking us out had her tragus pierced. So I talked to her about it and I took that as I sign to go through with it.
As soon as we left the mall we went straight to Tattoo Zone, a local place where all my friends go to get their tattoos and piercings. I had been there before so I knew exactly where to go. I walked to the desk and told Jason what I wanted done and he handed me the form to fill out. (this to me is the worst part, the point of no return.) I filled out the paperwork and waited for what seemed like an eternity for him to come back. He finished all that and took me back to a tiny room behind the tattoo rooms. This room was nothing like any other piercing parlor I have ever been in. You know normally the walls are covered with pictures of half naked women, piercings, and tattoos but the walls here were empty. They were painted a drab peach color and the only thing in the room was a marble counter and a lawn chair. Yes a lawn chair. Not that comfy doctors table but a lawn chair. Had I not known what an excellent shop this was the lawn chair may have scared me off. There were several people getting tattoo's that day and it is a small shop so I think they took me back to the recently added on portion of the shop.
So anyway, while I was waiting to get pierced me and Jason got better aquainted. (I talk a whole lot when I get nervous) I told him I did not want to see anything so he told me to shut my eyes. (clever I know) But my boyfriend watched the entire process for me. I squeezed his hand tightly as he clamped my ear. I wasn't sure when he was going to ram the needle in because he told me he wasn't going to warn me that my warning would be the actual needle. So finally the needle goes in smoothly, painlessly, and relatively quickly considering what I expected. I'm not sure what he did in between taking out the needle and puttin the jewelry in (an 18 gauge captive bead ring) but I could feel him doing something as my ear began to feel slightly warm. Then he slid the jewelry in. It went in no problem but you could tell my cartilage is pretty think and that he had to apply alot of force. Well it was finally over! So I thought.
He then proceeded to clean my ear. I have never heard of this done so quickly but he man handled by precious, fresh piercing. He twisted and pulled it and was not gentle about it at all. It got to the point where I had to tell him that was enough but of course he finished what he was doing before stopping. (he was that kind of guy, I could tell) This by far was the worst part of the piercing process and I think it was unnecessary. It only bleed alittle around the piercing because I turned the ring up and changed the pressure on it.
I got up and took a look in the mirror and I loved it! It was beautifully placed and the ring was not as huge as I thought it would be. (he had to go bigger in diameter because I wanted mine pierced higher than he originally thought.)
It has been about 2 weeks and all is well with my sexy little tragus. It only hurt for about 3 days and after that I could actually sleep on it alittle if I turn the ring down. I began cleaning it twice a day with Triadine the stuff they put on you before surgery, which is what they gave me, but I think it irritated it more than cleaned it. (I think I am allergic to it) Luckily I had some H2Ocean left over from my belly button and I use that twice a day and sometimes when I don't have alot of time I'll just clean it with Tattoo Goo while I'm in the shower. A few helpful hints:
1.Don't touch it!! I know, it's hard but I always want to play with mine and that is what got my friends tragus horribly infected.
2.Don't twist it unless you have removed the "crusties" with warm water because they will get inside the hole and make it unhappy.
And 3.Take care not to bump it, or get it caught when you brush your hair, it hurts believe me.
If your looking to get your tragus pierced do it! Sure it hurts, but once it's pierced your so excited you don't even care if it hurts! (at least I don't anyway) And don't let the other stories on here scare you. You cannot go by other peoples experiences anyway! We all have our own pain tolerances, you have to make your own experiences! If you go to a good parlor with experienced professionals, somewhere highly recommended, everything will go fine! Just do your homework in advance!
