For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with piercings and tattoos. Of course, at a young age, I never thought I would ever have the courage to actually get anything done to myself; after all, it was supposed to hurt! I didn't even get my ears pierced until I was fifteen, when I got hooked. But I always longed for a real piercing, one done in a shop and not just a tiny mall store.

My mom really didn't care so much what I did to my ears, as I suppose it's considered a lot more normal in society to have many holes in one's ears. So an industrial is definitely a good place to start on your path to piercings. I always admired the look the of the diagonal jewelry in an industrial, and so naturally I was thrilled when they agreed to let me get it done as a late 18th birthday present. Yes, I was already of age to get it on my own, but my parents had the rule of as long as I was under their roof, I followed their rules.
My cousin had told me good things about a place in Fairfield called Lambadi City, as well as countless people in my high school who had gone there. My cousin knew some of the tattoo artists there and assured me the place was sterile and the staff were friendly. So on the day when I finally arrived there, I was a little weirded out by the look of the place, seeing as I had never been in a tattoo parlor before in my life. I was downright nervous, but determined to go through with it.
The guys working there were very friendly and helpful, and the piercer (Casper, who no longer works there) came out to greet me and get some information. I needed to fill out a sheet and show my identification. Once a copy of that was made, Casper showed me to the back room where the piercings are done, and I nervously had a seat. He sprayed and sanitized the room, put on his gloves, and removed all the necessary materials including the jewelry. Everything was clean and freshly opened by him, so I knew I would be safe. Casper marked my ear and talked to me throughout the whole process, which was very comforting. He cleaned off my ear and opened the needle, and prepared me for the actual piercing, reminding me that an industrial consists of two piercings, and not to jerk away. He asked me to take two or three deep breaths and on the exhalation of the last one, I felt the needle go through the cartilage of my ear. It hurt a lot, but it wasn't excrutiating by any means. Then he asked me to do the same thing for the second hole. This one hurt a bit more than the first, but I knew at least it was over now. He placed the jewelry in, and I got so excited when I looked in the mirror at my new industrial!
We left the room and paid, leaving Casper a tip and thanked him. He gave me a sheet with all the after-care instructions he had gone through with me prior to the piercing. He also made a point to call if I had any concerns or questions. I made sure to keep it clean, and I didn't have any problems with it. I was instructed to clean it two to three times a day with antibacterial soap and stay out of water such as swimming pools and oceans for the first two weeks so I wouldn't infect it. I love it even more today! I will say that at first it hurt a little bit to sleep on at night, but it wasn't much to deal with. Switching sides or just being careful about how you lay your head down on your pillow should fix the problem. I definitely recommend this to anyone considering an industrial, as I am now hooked on piercings and have gotten two more since my industrial. Lambadi City is a great place to go if you are in the area, and also remember to make sure you really want this piercing. Researching is a good idea, and also try giving yourself some time to think about it, and if several months later you still want it, then go for it. The pain isn't horrible and only lasts for a short amount of time. Trust me, you will be hooked for life!
