I'd been pestering my mum for ages to be able to get some new piercings (I only had my lobes done twice, at the time) and she said I had to be 16. At the time of me asking, I was fourteen so two years seemed like forever. Over the next two years I sat and looked at countless pictures of ear piercings on BME and desperately wanted my 16th to come around. I remember on my 15th birthday, I started a countdown on msn that said 365 days to go! Yes...I'm aware of how sad that is.

Out of all the piercings, the ones I wanted were, a tragus, a rook, a sung and a vertical tragus piercing (Not all on the same ear) but I decide on my right tragus being the first one to happen. Mum had also made me promise not to get anything pierced on my face. I don't know if I really wanted anything piercing on my face, but I would like to have the option, you know?

So my 16th birthday finally came along this monday! (November the 28th 2005) Mum had been hoping I would have forgotten about it but I hadn't. Said gave in and said she would drive me to Thirsk to the studio. We went the day after my birthday and it was shut. Can you imagine how p!ssed off I was? I'd been so excited and then I had to drive all the way home again, un pierced. Then Thursday came around and I knew for a fact that they were open then, so off we went again.

We went in, sat looking at tattoo designs for a while, until Mick came downstairs and asked if I was ready. I suddenly got really nervous. I went upstairs with him (Mum stayed downstairs saying she wanted nothing to do with it) and chose the jewellery. It's a blue ring, but in some photos it looks silver. =) He then gave me some liquid on a tissue that was meant to numb my ear. In all honesty, I was prepared for it not to work. He then marked the spot, asked me if it looked okay and I said it was fine. He then put the clamp on and said: "Right, let's get this show on the road, then shall we?"

The only way I can describe the feeling of the needle going through is like pressure and then 5 seconds of sharp pain in my tragus and the sound of a dull crunching. I could just about see in the mirror, him cutting the tube down to size and threading the needle through. He asked me if I wanted a breather before he screwed the ball on, but I said screw it let's just get it over with.

So after a lot of tugging, pulling and twisting, the ball went on and the ring was in place. He said it was perfect, which was very reassuring, I must say. =) I paid Mick my £25 and we went on our way. I couldn't stop looking in the mirror all the way home. I didn't touch it because my hands were covered in pen from school so I just stared at it. I loved it!

I clean it once a day as instructed but I've not been able to twist the ring inside my ear yet. Mick told me to put some of the solution on a tissue and soak my ear in it and to twist the ring round so it gets clean inside as well. I guess it's because it's still sort of swollen that it won't move yet. I mean, hell...it's been just over a day. I have always been a very impatient child...

My advice to anyone if they're thinking about getting a tragus piercing is to do it. It's awesome and not that painful. It hurt a lot when I laughed or smiled and this morning I woke up and there was blood all over. Also, you very quickly get used to picking the phone up and putting it to your other ear instead of the pierced one. I've done it twice now though; picked up the phone and smacked it against my head. >_< Man, that hurt. Oh yeah! I tried putting my earphones in this morning. (Very stupid move) I actually can't believe I tried it! It started bleeding everywhere and I just stood looking int he mirror thinking: well, it was a stupid thing to do after all.

If anyone wants to ask any questions, feel free. Although, I'm no expert seeing as this was my first proper piercing, but feel free to visit my site or email me. Whichever way is fine by me. ^_^
