I have always loved the look of unique piercings yet I also do not really like the look of anything too crazy. I've had a rook done twice and it was one of my favorite. I was updating BME as I do religiously, and was looking at the daiths and thought "Those look really neat, they seem to tuck out of the way well." And that was what I was looking for, something different, unique and not too much effort. I'm lazy like that. So I decided I would definitely get one, talked to the boyfriend and family and they all agreed the daith was "different and neat." So that was that. I would get one. At some point.

So the day that I actually got my daith done was not anything special or significant. I was just sitting around and decided to go get it done. Pretty much on a whim. I knew that it was what I wanted and I had looked into them and done my research, like everyone should be before getting any piercing. I thought they looked awesome and I only knew of one person in real life who actually had one, so definitely odd. I liked how they tucked into your ear and looked so different in general.

So I called up my new piercer (my old one moved away) and she had done my nipples before and we chatted about fixing a messed up industrial and everything. She's really awesome in general. So I called asked how much it was and how late they were open. So I asked a friend to come along with me (she needed her industrial fixed too) but no go so it looks like I was going by myself. I looked on BME for a picture of how I wanted my daith to look, not too deep not too shallow. So off I went, and for some reason I got freaked half way though and wanted to go home. Maybe because it looks like such a deep piercing. So I get up there and Kim and the guys are leaving and I was rather bummed. I talked to her and asked if she would do it real quick or if she wanted to just set up an appointment. She said we could do it now so that was very cool of her.

We went into her piercing room; Kim asked to see what we were working with. I showed her and she said it was going to be a good pierce, and a nice looking daith. I was happy for that. I showed her the picture I had brought with me, just for reference. She picked out the jewelry, 14g half in captive ball ring I believe. She cleaned me all up and made her marks. She also talked to me for a while about how it's a pretty much blind piercing, which is true. Another guy I had talked to there before asked if it was ok that he sat in and I was cool with it. So she set everything up, had me lay down. Did the standard deep breathe, hold it, and push it out hard thing. No big deal. No pain at all. With others there was pressure and slight discomfort, but I really did not feel it at all.

Then came the fun part. Putting the ball on! But first she put some cotton in my ear canal so that I didn't lose it inside my head. There was a little tugging and mild struggle but nothing really even concerning. She popped the ball on and cleaned it all up and I was done. I eagerly hopped off the table to look at my lovely new daith, and maybe it was the laying down for a while maybe it was the new hole in my head but I got a huge head rush. I didn't care though. I looked at it in the mirror and fell in love with it instantaneously. I touched it, played with it and pushed it back into the little nook in my ear. It is the most awesome piercing ever! I loved the look and feel of it that very second.

Kim then started telling me about how after the cartilage heals up they just flip flop everywhere and how they loosen up. Which I have already noticed. I've had my daith for maybe 3 weeks now and it's amazing. I've had so much pain with other cartilage piercing and there's nothing with this one. I absolutely love it. I never even know it's there. I've not had any problems with keliods, or any excessive crusting. It has been the best piercing, just an absolute dream. I have not even had to do any salt soaks to help with the healing. No problems at all. No tenderness, redness, soreness, nothing. An amazing piercing, I've recommend it to many friends already.
