Now I don't recommend you doing this yourself but here's my experience anyway.
At A Glance Author Dee Contact Dee@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist me Studio at home Location london I first got into piercings when I was about 11 and I pierced myself in the strangest way imaginable to an 11 year old anyway. After that I couldn't stop thinking that I needed another piercing. My parents were kind of upset about it but accepted my love for piercings after a little while and agreed that I could have more piercings as long as they weren't on my face.
I went to Gems and scents a few months ago and asked them if they could pierce my ear for me. They said that it couldn't happen unless I had parental consent or I was 18 years old or over. I accepted that and didn't argue with them. I went back to school the next day and for weeks just complained about it. Until I realized that I could just pierce it myself...
I was talking about piercing my ear (cartilage) again since I only have one on my left ear and that was done in the one of those jewelry shops, (bad idea). I wanted to get another piercing so badly, it was like a craving. I'm only 15 but I already have 17 piercings so you can see that I really do love piercings.I hadn't decided on getting any specific piercings yet I just know that I wanted another one. I don't actually tell anybody (accept my close friends) about piercing myself so it comes as a bit of a surprise to everybody who knows me. I decided to do some research on piercing yourself this time. I wasn't too successful in doing that, since most people don't recommend it. So I just gave up I decided to forget about it and get my navel pierced again in a few months as a treat for a birthday or Christmas or something. But then one day...I got really bored.
I had just come home from school with my friend and the truth is I can't keep myself interested in anything for longer than ten minutes,(the reason why I have so many piercings). So anyway I sat there and felt the urge for a piercing and seen as I can't afford it I decided to do it myself. My friend was there for all of them and she always tried to talk me out of doing them but obviously never succeeded. By the way my parents already said I can keep all the piercings I have because they found out that I wanted them after I had done them.
So I went and got one of the piercing needles that my sister bought a few months ago for me, went to the bathroom and washed my hands and put some of those gloves that my sister also decided to purchase. I took the needle out and just stared at it for a little while. I was really exited,(scared too) I couldn't wait to have my new cartilage piercing.
I finally plucked up the courage to push the needle a little bit but it wouldn't go through so I pushed harder and it was done. I couldn't even feel it. I didn't know I had done it.I just fed the earring through, cleaned up and left. I couldn't look at it though, I was too worried about my parents arguing with me about it.
I thought it would hurt so much. None of my other piercings really hurt, not even my nape piercing. I think the worst was actually my nostril but I think that was only because it was my first actual professional piercing.
My friend kept asking me about it. So I got up, ran to the mirror and looked at it. It was perfect. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. I decided to let my hair down so my parents wouldn't see it.
But when they did, they were about ready to rip it out of my ear. They eventually accepted it when I agreed to never pierce myself again. However, my older very over protective brother decided that it was his responsibility to take it off of me. He nearly broke my hand when I tried to protect it from him. He did the same thing to my navel and hip piercings. Then he finally gave up when my sister slapped the hell out of him.
I was really surprised at how little it hurt afterwards. However, my real surprise though was that I kept forgetting to clean it. Every time I remembered I kept thinking that it would get infected or something but it was perfect. Just the way I wanted it. Like I said in the beginning don't ever try to do this yourself a lot of things could go wrong. Just go to a professional.
