I've been waiting forever for this one, well over a year now just never got round to it or had enough spare cash for (pretty unecessary in comparison to other things) piercings. But I've been having bad cravings for it lately!

I've been fascinated by industrial (or scaffolding depending on where you come from) piercings since I watched a documentary about piercings/tattoos, and this girl had a whole bunch of ear piercings, to me it was the one that stood out, just looks awesome when it's healed.

I've already had my nose done twice, (did have) my lip done twice and DIY ears (not the best idea... that HURT), so I wasn't too bothered about the pain.

I've heard lots of things about it rejecting/healing weird but I was still adamant to have it done.

Pretty much on impulse today i finally got round to it, went in the studio and asked about it, I was pretty worried I wouldn't be able to get it done because of the shape of my ears, which aren't best suited for a deep industrial piercing, I thought maybe that there wouldn't be enough skin for the "bottom bit".

I went to a place where I knew and trusted, the studio itself was hygenic and the staff know us by face.

Funnily enough a while ago I went to a tanning studio that also did tattoos/piercings with a friend. While I was there I asked about it, I was horrified that they'd "try it, but we've never done one of those before" good god no.

the piercer said it was alright and that she would have to do it on less extreme angle. so I handed over thirty quid, which also covers the price of the actual bar. First she would have to pierce it with two BCRs, which is fine by me cause I can use them elsewhere when it's healed, pity I can never get the bloody balls back on the ring! I got told that you should never pierce it and put the bar in straightaway otherwise the skin will heal over the bar so when it gets taken out I'd be left with a plug of skin.

She took me into the room, gave me a mirror to hold, sat me on the table and took out a bar and started positioning it onto my ear to see which angle I'd prefer. I was debating whether to get it done in my left or right ear, I really wanted it done on the right one because it's the side I don't sleep on and it balances out my nose piercings but the skin is actually thicker on my left ear (maybe I'm just lopsided?)

The angle I chose was the one she said would be best, the top hole will be right next to where my ear joins my head, but with enough room to get the bar on, it fits comfortably snug along the shape of the inside of my ear too.

I got my ear marked (the pens still there now!) I wasn't nervous at all but just never having a cartilage piercing before, wondered what it would feel like, I've heard a lot of stories about it being painful etc, but once it's done it's done so I didn't worry.

She said that she will try and use the one needle and get it all the way through, I'm not actually too sure of the gauge though.

So she put it through the first hole, it hurt a little but no worse than trying to pierce my own ears, haha. the second hole hurt a little more, slightly disappointed that I didn't hear any "popping" sound though. It wasn't too bad the worst bit was probably when she was putting the rings through!

Overall it's the most painful piercing I've had but it's tolerable, not too bad.

I don't have any problems with my parents and piercings either, my mam's tolerant with it as long as it isn't too extreme or prevents me "finding a job" hahaha....yeah right.....

It feels worth it though, I can see my rings and it'll be pretty noticable as my ears are exposed because I have a shaved mohawk!

I just hope it heals alright and I don't knock it too much (which will be likely) I'm glad got it intentionally done on the (right) ear which is the side I don't sleep on.

But apparently the worst problems with it healing and rejecting are that people put their bars in too early whilst it's not fully healed so in six/seven weeks I have to come back to get my ear measured and a bar ordered, looking forward to it now!

Anyway don't dwell on it too much, don't be nervous, it's over in seconds and hopefully it'll be worth it!
