It'd been a few months since my last piercing, and I had seen industrials on bme and debated whether I should get one or not. They looked really cool, and they were a lot more visible than most of my other mods, with my septum piercing remaining hidden for the most part. I broached the subject with my mother, testing her reaction. She didn't seem to be very opposed to it, and so I called up Eva (my piercer) to chat about it. I decided that I'd just show up when I had the balls to get it done, which ended up being rather soon after I broke up with my cheating scumbag boyfriend. I had to do something to symbolise my new start, and what better than this. I caught the bus into town after school on the Monday straight after, and lo, the shop was closed. A sign proclaiming their opening times had a dash through Monday.... Something I'd never noticed before. Caught the bus home feeling very dejected, more determined than ever.

Caught the bus in after school, except now the hateful sign on the door said that they were closed after 4, which was when I had arrived in town. Ready to kill, I chainsmoked at the bus stop, fuming. The next day, it wasn't just one person saying that 'maybe it just wasn't meant to happen'.
Next day, got picked up from school so we'd get in on time, and so there me and my mum were at half past three and Eva's friend, Helen, informs us that she's sick, and that on the phone with my mum she had thought that it was a simple cartilage piercing I was after. Helen is a legend, has her eyebrow, tongue and labret, about 35 looks maori or something. Awesome :P
She talked for a while about the industrial, and showed us the bar. It was so big and beautiful... I couldn't wait until I could have it adorning me. The chick said that Eva might be back by Saturday, or she might be borrowing another piercer for the day. Saturday it was.
Bright and early I showed up, to be greeted by exasperated moans of "Dammit, Jai just left, and he can do it'. Jai was Eva's (hot) son, vertical labret, retired nape and industrial. I had no problems at all with that, and was quite happy to let him explain to me the risks. I was getting it pierced with the full metal bar straightaway, and 2 separate needles were to be used. They half heartedly tried to get me to choose to get it done with two separate bars, but the full length bar was what I identified with an industrial and I wouldn't have a bar of it. They got me to sit down, and tried to keep my hair away from my ear while they debated, and eventually settled on doing both holes freehand. Three distinct noises came from each penetration, after which I was told that I had tough ears ^_^. Compliment, I think not. After having my eyes closed through the whole procedure due to the mirrors on the opposite wall, I looked at my new piercing(s) and was rather underwhelmed. It wasn't as shocking as I had imagined it. Still, it was very cool and I had a definite spring in my step for the rest of the day. Since then, I have been told many times how awesome it is, and received a few shocked faces and exclamations of 'I thought that was a staple in your ear', and now that it's not red I'm agreeing. I like it a lot more now, it was 8 days ago that I got it, and while its still awkward to sleep with, and I have to tape it up for work, I would be rather annoyed if anything screwed around with it.
I've just been using salt crystals (they gave me at the shop) dissolved in hot water to look after it for the most part. Using betadine or just this other piercing care solution I got with my septum on it. The bar is a bit too long for the distance between the holes, but I bought one exactly the right length at a show a few days ago, and I cant wait until I'll be able to take it out and change everything on it. While something's healing, it seems less impressive, like you're just new at it. I'm gradually working my way up to butch skinhead, just a few facial holes and I'll be set. The industrial complements my septum, I think and I'm considering getting my nape pierced next. An actual surface piercing would be absolutely wicked, and it's a piercing that I have never seen anyone with in real life. It also fits with my septum in that its not really 'in your face', its just a lot less likely to get parental permission. Which I guess isn't really necessary anyway :P
