I have phases that I think to myself, "That will look really good on me" and a tragus was no exception.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact lucky_aces88@hotmail.co.uk When Three months ago Artist Phil Studio Metalurgy Location Dundee As always I research my piercings before getting this and I found nothing bad about this piercing. Most - if not all of my piercings (I have a lot) are planned spur of the moment moments (I will plan on get it sometime, never set a date - then just going for it out of the blue). Well I was in town and I was looking in all my usual stores and I had some money in my pocket burning a hole in my wallet and I kept seeing lots of people who had "unusual piercings" so I took it as as sign for me to get at least one piercing. So I thought long and hard about what to get and I just remembered the tragus. I decided that this was the next one I would get to add to my long list of piercings. On my way there I was running ideas through my head and all I could think about was pieces of metal being stuck through my body (am I weird? - do all people who are into piercings love the feeling of the pain at the needle goes through?) I walked in and luckily no-one was there except me and my piercer (Phil). I just walked in and said "Im in to see about getting a tragus pierced", he said it was fine and he checked my ear to make sure it actually be done on me. Luckily, he said it was ok for me to get it.
He went below his counter and brought up some options of jewellery, I said that I wanted a ring - he said that would be a bad idea cause it would be very hard to change to change. A curved barbell was proposed and I agreed. ( It felt good to know that he actually cared about it and never just agreed with everything I wanted. He proceeded to the back and sterilized all the tools he needed. When he came back I signed the form that you need to (proposed piecing, date of birth, address and your signature- pretty standard stuff). I looked through some magazines while my metal was being cleaned. He then asked me to come into the back, it was so clean I looked all over the place (im a little funny with being clean) and it was all stainless steel and everything was in single use packets which made me feel really really easy about the place I choose. I sat on what was like a dentists chair and he just cleaned the spot I chose. He then marked it with a pen and asked me if it was ok - I agreed it was fine. The moment came - I was running on pure rush now . The clamps went on (which was the worst part of the whole thing) and he said I would feel a little sting and sure enough - I did. I just kept my eyes shut and before I knew it, the needle was through. It felt so good to have it through, now the next part - jewellery. To tell you the truth - the needle was the least sore part of the procedure. He then screwed the ball on and showed me his handy work in a mirror - i fell in love with it.
It never really bled at all. I then went to the front of the shop payed him the £30 and tipped him for his work, I even had a little talk about piercing with him (well it was a long talk) I left the place with a huge grin on my face. When I came home everyone was really funny about it - I live in a little village so you don't see a lot of piercings except the ear lobes *yawn*. The only people who really hated was my parents and I got the usual "What if it gets infected", "don't get comfortable with that because it is coming out!!".
Its been like 2 months and guess what - its still in and its NOT moving. To anyone who is thinking of getting this piercing I would say - GET IT, YOU NEED IT AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!! Its such a good piercing to have and the reactions you get from some people are very funny. All in all, I have no regrets with my choice in piercing - im still in love with it Another thing, anyone who is in the Dundee area and wants a good piercer the got to Phil's Metalurgy on dock street - is such a good place and Phil is so friendly. JUST GET IT DONE
