So, last night, a friend and I are sitting at Subway on Dalhousie, and after a large disappointment earlier in the evening,I decide I want a new piercing! Not the best habit to get into, but it works for me! First things first - I check my wallet to see if I have any money at all, can't get pierced without the cash!

As I'm sure you can tell from the title of my experience, that's not what I ended up getting! We meander our way up the street to the partner studio of where I had my lip pierced, Planet Ink Extreme!
Walking in the door, there was a TON of people there, crammed into a tiny reception area! Most of them were getting pierced as well (there were about 5 girls that had come in together, all were getting pierced together!), others were getting tattooed. There was only one piercer on duty at that time of night, so I had to wait my turn.
I had a peek at the price chart on the wall, and decided tonight was the night I get an Anti-Helix piercing. Why? It was the most inexpensive, and I liked the location! So spontaneous! I filled in the appropriate forms, got the aftercare sheet, sat, and waited my turn. As I mentioned earlier, there were quite a few people in at the time, so my wait was around 20 minutes. My friend and I spend the waiting time flipping through books of tattoo designs, and I decide I will most likely get tattooed here as well, but that's another story!
My turn eventually rolls around, and the piercer, Courtney, calls me and my friend into the small, but very well lit, clean and organized room. She's a fairly short girl, so she had me jump up and lay down on the...padded table thing (I don't know what it's called!). I felt like i was in a hospital for a minute or two, staring at the ceiling, until I started looking around. She had several piercings herself, all of which were very nicely placed, and well healed. I doubt she did them herself, but seeing successful piercings on your piercer always inspires confidence! Courtney opened all packages of equipment (needle, clamps (I don't believe she used these), cork, jewelry, etc.) in front of me, and explained what everything was, and what it would be used for. (I already knew, but I still appreciated this explanation, someone who is nervous would appreciate it even more I think!) She marked on my ear in two different places, mentioning I had a vein she would like to avoid, and let me choose which location I preferred for my new piercing. I chose the one that was closer to my face! While she is marking, she explains the aftercare to me, and suggests I come back in two weeks for a checkup, and jokes about the art she is doodling all over my ear. She had me lay back down on the table, and turn my head to face the door where my friend was standing.
"Take a deep breath in...and you're done!"
She talked me through the entire process as she was doing it, and while she was preparing for the piercing, we had a conversation much like you would have with your stylist at your favourite salon!
She slips the jewelry in (a 14g CBR), I take a look, and I am very pleased! She then bent the tip of the needle and threw it out, very good procedure.
I found that it hurt a bit more than my tragus piercing did, but overall it was not a particularly painful piercing, and a quick piercing at that! It also did not ache, burn, or feel sore for a period afterword, like some of my other piercings have. It was almost as if it had been numbed! Overall, a very pleasant experience, and an excellent, clean, and friendly location. Courtney is a very sweet and informative gal, and I would definitely recommend her, the studio, and this piercing to anyone! :)
An excellent piercing choice for beginners in my opinion, it's discreet if you need it to be, doesn't hurt too much depending on your pain threshold, and relatively inexpensive, if that is in issue!
A very happy unbirthday to myself :D I don't even feel it now, even though it was just over 24 hours ago, except for when I bump it accidentally, but that's to be expected! Making impulse choices like I did is probably not the best of ideas, but luckily, I chose an excellent piercer, and a piercing that is not too uncommon or out of the ordinary, but I still love it!
