For my 12th birthday I had gotten my right nostril pierced. I liked it but as soon as it was done healing I wanted to change it to a Captive Bead Ring. I tried this but sadly I could not get it in and it grew over.. I was upset but my mother offered me to get something on my ear pierced. I instantly chose the Industrial, but since I was 12 at the time I couldn't go to a piercing studio and get it done, instead I went to my mom's hair salon place and the stylist (Ann) does upper body piercing..Ann also did 2 of my helix's a while back (yes I admit, they were gunned..I didn't know any better). I forgot to add I have had 12 piercings then about to add one more..

The day I got it done was Monday September 12th and at 4:00 . After school my cousin Ben called me and asked if he could come (he was with me for my nostril piercing too), I say sure..then he asks if his friends Ryan and Matthew(TWINS) can come.. I say okay though that just added to my nervousness (Er...see,I like Ryan).

We drive there with them in the backseat and play Three Days Grace's Home on the way there, which calmed me slightly. We get there, and Ann is busy. About 10 more minutes later she is still busy . Then finally she is ready. She takes me back to the room in which she does piercing. Only one person can come in and it is my mother, so Ben, Ryan and Matt have to wait outside the door, eagerly (I told them if I cried i'd give them 40 bucks).

Ann gets us to sign some things and I pick the barbell. I got a plain stainless steel 14 g barbell with a larger ball, so it would be easier to screw on. I could've gotten a yellow, purple or greenish colored barbell but they were titanium..I sit down while Ann cleans my ear with some stuff and say's she will hide the needle from me until she pierces it. I laugh and say I would like to see it. She is surprised but shows me ..It had an outer diameter of 12 so it looked huge then. Then she put's clips in my hair to keep it out of the way. Obviously she couldn't use clamps so she was going to do it freehand. She changed her gloves. She say's she is going to pierce it bottom to top, and gets me to agree with the positioning on my ear. Now when I look back I should have made it more horizontal but it's only slightly off.

Ann say's she will pierce it now, I had to take my glasses off so she could pierce it, so I could not see it happening in the mirror. I bite my finger to distract me from the pain that would soon be coming. She pushes it in slowly..the about 1/4 of the way through it is really painful..her hand is shaking because she is pushing it so hard ..it feels like all of her weight is being forced on the needle which is ever so slowly, ripping through my skin, almost pulling my ear. Yes it was painful. Then after 45 seconds through a minute she says she is done that hole. I start to laugh because of the big bite marks in my finger and tell her to go ahead. The same thing as before except it hurts a little bit less, and when it goes through I hear a crunch. She puts a cork on the needle and pushes the needle through and carefully inserts the barbell and screws the balls on (which I don't feel because my ear feels like it is on fire anyway).

Yay she is done, it only bled slightly and I got to look in the mirror and am astonished at how painful it looks, I love it. Ann tell's me to sit for a bit then I get to go outside the room and show Ben. They were a bit annoyed they didn't get their 40$ but said it looked cool ^_^. Then we go get subs and I watch them skateboard, go home.

It was very difficult to sleep that night, having a freshly pierced Industrial on my right side and 2 healing helix's on my left. I have found a way to sleep that is fairly comfortable though. It is still not fully healed but is doing alright, which disinfectant spray on a q-tip and sea salt soaks keep it comfortable. It gets crusties, and the first few days, oozed discharge but it went away (I hope).

A lot of people say they want it done after seeing my ear but quickly change their mind after I tell them it is done with a needle. Soon I think I will replace the balls with these little spiky things I am using for another 14 gauge curved barbell.

I love my industrial and I do not think it is something you might wanna get pierced at a hair salon, go to a real studio if you can! I have had few problems except my hair getting caught in it, and someone hitting it with their elbow once, which was accidental..O.o
