Well, I've finally decided to write about my experience of having an industrial piercing, after reading a few on here, and thinking, maybe I should write about my piercing. I noticed that some people initially had theirs done with 2 BCR's, then had them changed afterwards, mine was just a straight bar, 1.6mm, 40mm long!

Its important to get a good fit, 40mm now is comfortable, but i can go down to 36-38mm, it all depends on the size of your ear, and the placement.

It all started about 6 months ago, a group of my friends decided to head to the nearest piercing shop to have our newly desired piercings. This was one of many trips we take to this particular piercing shop.

We all chatted on the bus, about which one's we wanted, and me and my friend both wanted an industrial- luckily we had different ideas of placement, as I wanted something a little different from my friends!

On the day, there were these different piercings: labret, lobes, tragus, industrial, navel, helix, and nose.

We got to standing outside the piercing place, and already i was having second thoughts, and butterflies. Eventually, my friends convinced me to go inside, and as there were about 8 of us, it took some time to get through to me! We wandered around the shop – they had so many different pieces of jewellery it was like Aladdin's cave! I immediately found the industrial bars, and was fascinated by it.

The shop is small, but it's got such a good reputation, I advise to always go where you have seen their work. As we were waiting, one of the piercers gave us all an ice pack each to put onto various areas where our piercings would be, a group discount and free healing solution - Great!

The shop has a great layout, there's a line of chairs just outside the room, and it was a separate cubical, which is great if you don't want people watching your piercing!

My industrial would have been about £30 normally, but with the discount (although it doesn't seem much) it was £27, this was including jewellery, and the actual piercing.

Finally I went into the room with my boyfriend for support and was greeted by a lovely lady who asked me if I had gotten any piercings before. I replied that I had my eyebrow and navel done before (which both grew out I am sad to say!) She took this and replied, 'Oh well you'll be fine!' Which was nice to hear!

I sat down on a bed, I looked around, everything seemed spotless, and I was relaxing a little at this point, then she put on gloves etc, and sterilized everything. Before I knew it, we were all set. She asked me if I wanted to go ahead with it, and I said 'go for it' with a little giggle. She measured my ear to figure out the best placement, my ear was suitable to be pierced at an 'diagonal' instead of straight across the top, I told her I was happy with it, (first time!)

And she prepared me for it.

Now I was expecting quite allot of pain for this one, but I hardly felt anything, she pierced the 'bottom' hole first, (I chose to have one straight bar) then the top hole, the top hurt a little, but wasn't that bad, before I knew it, she had slipped the bar straight through and I sat up to look at my new piercing, I was so pleased with it.

My friend went in after me, and it turned out she could only have the 'straight-across' industrial, she seemed fine, but had to sit down afterwards, as she felt a bit faint. After that, she decided she wanted another ear piercing! I think she had a normal lobe piercing on both sides, well she is totally mad and now I think she has about 16 piercing overall. Most of my friends have had at least 3 piercing, which have sometimes gone nasty and they have had them re-done, which is always a put off, but you have to take that risk.

Aftercare is really important with an industrial, I found that mine needed cleaning more than 3 times a day, its allot of effort, but I love my piercing, and always get comments when imp out shopping or at gigs!

I still only have my industrial and 2 normal lobe piercing, but imp sure I will catch up soon.

Now my piercing has healed really well, but I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the straight bar, or change them for rings.

I'm planning to have a labret, helix, some more lobe, navel (again) and possibly nipples. I'm sure there will be more to write about soon. Thanks for reading =)
