I am a teenager who most would see as the typical teenager with nothing extreme, just double-pierced ears, maybe the top cartilage of my ear pierced and nothing else, but that is far from reality. I have my ears triple pierced with five top cartilage piercings and two very unique inner-ear cartilage piercings.

The first of the two inner-ear piercings is the one that caused me some trouble. I had reluctantly enough decided to get a piercing that was unusual just to prove the point that I was an individual. Well, I went to a studio called Turner's Touch of Class because I was very familiar with the owners since I was close friends with the owner's daughter. I was sure I could trust them to do what I wanted, plus I felt very comfortable with them.

I had asked to a specific piercing that was somewhat out of the ordinary, but not unheard of. When I described it to the owner, Lisa, she assured me that she had never heard of that kind of piercing before which I though was strange, but I ignored it when she said that she would attempt it anyway. When she went to attach the clamps, she informed me that they wouldn't clamp on to the area to be pierced. I also thought this was somewhat weird, because it seemed to be a large enough piece of cartilage for the clamps, but I wasn't the professional so I just sat back, shut up, and agreed to do it as a freehand.

The pain was absolutely horrible and I could hear the cartilage popping over and over. Then Lisa informed me that the needle she was using was too big and that she had to change to a smaller one. So to add to the pain, she had to change needles in the middle of the piercing and blood was pouring all over my ear, down my neck, and was dripping onto my shoulder. After about three minutes of working with the needle, she got it through and got the ring in my ear. By then I might as well have just been stabbed in the head by a knife. It felt like the whole right side of my head was swollen up and throbbing.

When I went to look at my cool new piercing I got a slightly shocking surprise. It wasn't where I wanted it! The earring was in a completely different place from where I wanted. Apparently Lisa had misunderstood me when I was explaining what I wanted to her. At first I was annoyed, but after a while I grew to love the strange piercing. It was somewhere I would never in a million years think of getting an earring and I probably would have never been brave enough to. It was a shocking mistake, but it turned out to be pretty cool, and all my friends thought so as well.

About a month later one of my friends from another school decided that she wanted to get a unique piercing exactly like mine, which actually wouldn't have been too unique. See, after my incident my piercing became very popular and everyone was always wanting to get a gander into my ear. So my friend decided to go to the exact same piercing parlor that I went to in hopes that she could prove how brave she was and get the same thing done. When she went in and asked about it, Lisa refused to do it. She said that she never would have told me so, but she said that when she was doing my piercing she was so nervous that she about quit, because she had never done an ear piercing so extreme before. She really got scared when she realized that she had to change the needle and the bleeding kind of went out of control. She said that she couldn't possibly put another person through that kinds of pain.

Now I remain the only person in my area with a piercing so weird and out of character. It is really interesting to see people's reaction whenever they see it for the first time. Almost every time that first thing that they say is,"Oh my gosh! Didn't that hurt?" I want to tell them that it didn't so that I sound big and brave, but anyone who could look at it and think that it didn't hurt is an idiot. Due to that one misunderstanding by my piercer, I have come to realize that I am a big fan of weird and outrageous piercings and I have continued to seek out new and original things that few or no people have ever tried, or at least that I think have never been attempted. The mistake was as shocker and it sucked at the time, but it turned out to be the coolest mistake ever!
