I got my Tragus pierced two months ago. I went in to Explosive tattooing and told Brian I wanted my tragus pierced. The environment of the tattoo shop made me calm. They were very nice. In the back ground I could hear the tattoo gun going. That made me nervous but I filled out the paper work and since I'm under 18 my mom had to sign for me too. After she signed for it I paid and she asked Brian if there was any serious risks. After telling her there wasn't Brian said he'd be right back. After about 5 minutes he came back out and asked me if I was ready. I said yes and fallowed him back past the women getting a tattoo into a small room with a dentist looking chair and a counter.
At A Glance Author Tiffany Contact Tiffany@bme.anon When A month ago Artist Brian Studio Explosive Tattooing Location Salisbury,MD He shut the door and then put on gloves and he cleaned my ear where it would be pierced. Then he changed his gloves and he marked my ear where it would be pierced and asked if I was ok with that location. I said yes. He had everything laying on the counter and everything was still on the wrapper and he had everything laying on plastic wrap on the counter. He talked to me while he was getting ready. I guess he could tell I was nervous so he asked me what I had been doing over the summer. Then he clamped my ear and told me to breath in. I did. He asked me to breath in and out once again. I did and when I breathed out her put the needle through. I thought it was only half way through. At the time I didn't think I heard a crunching sound but I did the more I thought about it. The needle going through didn't hurt that much, the part that hurt the most was him putting the ear ring in and then having to put the ball on the hoop. That hurt the most.
When I got it done, it didn't bleed or anything. I made the mistake of sleeping on the ear I got pierced the first night I had it done. When I woke up in the morning I had a lot of dried blood in my ear. It did swell up for about 2-3 weeks. But that of course is normal with any piercing.
During the 2-3 weeks of swelling it did curst, all around the ear ring. This of course is normal. I cleaned it twice a day with bactine then with H2Ocean which helped a lot. I also turned it in the shower.
It bleed once more over the 2 month period. It wasn't bad though. If you make the mistake of turning the ear ring while the ear ring is dry then more then likely it will bleed. ONLY turn it when you are in the shower, when the bactine/H2Ocean is on it or when it has moisture on it.
If you can get the Bactine that sprays. It is easier to get it on the Q-tip. And if your ear does get infected and you get a bump clean it in the shower with anti-bacterial soap and keep cleaning it with Bactine and H2Ocean. Just make sure you don't press hard on the bump with the Q-tip.
About a week ago I found a bump on the back of the tragus piercing. I had stopped cleaning it because I thought it was done healing. I told my mom and she called the place where I got it done. They told her I had stopped cleaning it and it had gotten infected. I have started cleaning it again but now there is a bump on the front. I clean it twice a day again now. It's still healing. Don't try and pop the bump either. This won't help!
O and also it's pretty to get your tragus pierced with a hoop. It's a lot easier to clean then a stud. I would change to a stud after the four months of healing time. And if you do change to a stud, try using a nose stud. The hole may close up a bit but it's just adjusting to the new size of the stud. But to be on the safe side turn the new stud at least once a day to make sure it doesn't grow to your ear.
I recommend this piercing to anyone who REALLY wants it. Just make sure you take GREAT care of it. It gets easily infected. And if you get it done use Bactine AND H2Ocean.They should sell H2Ocean at the place where you get it pierced! If you have any questions email me or IM me on AIM at aussiebabe2207.
If your still having doubts, I did too. And I don't regret it at all. If I had the chance I Would do it all over again! I had to go as soon as I had enough courage though. I am scared of needles. But this really wasn't that bad. If you have a cartilage piercing then you can handle a tragus piercing. After getting this piercing I had enough courage to get a tattoo. And my tattoo hurt a lot worse. I hope I helped!
