Greetings! I'm glad that you want to read about my tragus piercing experience. It was quite interesting if you ask me. So let's get started!
At A Glance Author anonymous When Five years ago Artist Shayla Studio Southside Tattoo Location Pittsburgh To begin, I'll start by letting you know that I've wanted to get my tragus pierced for a while now, because it was something unique that none of my friends had at the time, and I thought the idea of it looked really cute personally and most importantly. I live in the Pittsburgh area and I searched around different piercing/tattoo shops, and finally decided to go with SouthSide Tattoo which is about 15 minutes from my home. Very convenient if you ask me. I considered this a little birthday present to myself, and after I had talked it over with mom, she said it was a cute idea and didn't mind. I have my navel pierced and a tattoo already, so I didn't think she would be upset over a small ear piercing.
I drove downtown and I could feel myself getting a little bit nervous on the way there, but told myself to calm down because it wasn't going to be that bad. I have a high pain tolerance, and I believe that if you want something bad enough, like a tattoo or piercing, the pain is worth it! I arrived at the shop, parked my car, and went inside. I was greeted by the woman that was going to pierce me and she asked if there was anything she could help me with. I didn't hesitate to respond that I wanted a new piercing with a big smile on my face! Her name was Shayla, and she said "Ok, well lets get you set up then! What would you like pierced today?" I told her I wanted to get my tragus pierced and she asked for my ID and had me fill out a form of requested information... piece of cake!!!
She lead me back to get pierced, and at this point I was excited, not nervous, but excited because I was so happy it was finally going to happen! I sat in the chair, and Shayla began to put gloves on, unpackage a new needle, and clean a ring and bead that would be inserted after the piercing! We made small talk, which helped put me at ease a little. Shayla had her tragus pierced also, and I asked her about the pain and such... she didn't hesitate to say it was as easy as pie. She handed me a little kit box full of different color beads I could choose that would be placed in the ring. I couldn't decide, but finally I chose a pink cat's eye bead. Shayla marked the spot with a blue marker, gave me a mirror, and asked if I liked the placement. It was perfect. She then put a clamp on my ear and a small cork inside too, so the needle would not go too far and hit the inside of my ear... ouch! Then Shayla told me to take a deep breath. When I exhaled, she pierced the needle through, it was quick and painless. The worst was over.
She then said "There you go! The needle is through, now don't move, I'm going to insert the ring." I held still, and with a sigh of relief thought to myself, that wasn't so bad. She fed the ring through, and put the small pink shiny bead in the ring I had chosen. I got up and looked in the mirror and it looked awesome!!!!! Then she thoroughly explained cleaning procedures and aftercare. I paid her the money and thanked her a million times! I was so happy! I couldn't wait to get home and show my mom how cute it looked. On the way home I kept glancing at it in the rear-view mirror now and then, and couldn't be happier.
If I had to describe how it felt, I'd say that the clamp on my ear was more uncomfortable then the actual piercing itself. When the needle went through, it felt kind of hot, and just a small sharp pain when the needle first touched my skin. I know what your thinking, and no I couldn't "hear" popping or gross sounds as the needle went through. It was an overall pleasant experience and I recommend getting it done if that is something you like. I've noticed the trend is becoming more and more popular with our generation nowadays. It was super easy to take care of also, just make sure that you don't bump it with things like the telephone, headphones, while you're brushing your hair, taking off/putting on clothes, or even girls... when you get out of the shower and wrap your hair in a towel. Keep it clean, and happy piercing!!!!
