Well here we go, ok on Monday the 22nd of August my friend Alice and I ventured off to one of the best concerts we've ever been to...Nine Inch Nails. The atmosphere was awesome, there were piercings right and left and you couldn't turn around without seeing and surface piercing on some ones back or a septum piercing. Needless to say afterwards we were on a concert high, ready to go out and do anything crazy.

The next day my brother and his friend drove us to Chermside to pick up some lunch, it was supposed to be a couple of minutes inside and then straight home again. In her excited state Alice decided to go and check the price of surface piercings in Cosmetics Plus. They were only $25 which is a bargain! With the amount of pain we had endured after being thrashed around in that insane mosh pit, pain was no longer a word in our vocabulary. Needless to say she decided there and then it was time to get her piercing. She decided on a vertical bending bar thing between her cleavage. There was some red tape to over come at that point as it is illegal to pierce the breasts or genitals of anyone under the age of 18. So after the piercer (Shannon) made a few calls it was all clear to go ahead as long as she in no may touched her breasts in the process.
Shannon had to go on her lunch break so the piercing was scheduled for an hour from that time. We decided it was time for a cigarette break to calm the nerves, even though I wasn't the one getting the piercing I was nervous...but extremely excited. We had been so tired from the night before but now the adrenaline was pumping through our veins once more, it felt like we were back at Nine Inch Nails watching Trent.....wait back to reality...
So Alice went into the room and after about 2minutes I heard the word "FUCK" and seconds later she emerged from the room smiley faced and bandaged across the chest not being able to remove it for an hour. We were about to leave when I said to Alice that if I had to money I'd get my ear cartilage pierced, so of course seconds later she's got me on the phone to my mum asking for permission to get it done exclaiming that she'll pay for it. oh if anyone was wondering if Alice was allowed to get that surface piercing - that most obvious answer is usually the correct one - NO!
Anyways, i filled out the forms and went straight into the room (I love it one you don't have to make appointments). Shannon sat me down on the chair and went through the aftercare instructions with me. By this time I'm getting nervous, everyone says cartilage piercings hurt like a bitch. She went to put on the gloves and dropped one...the suspense was getting too me. She threw it in the bin and got a new one. Then she clamped my ear and went to insert the needle....and drops the needle...now the suspense is KILLING me. She gets a new needle as we laugh about how ironic the situation was. Then she clamped my ear (for the second time) and TING...its over! Now i don't know why people think that normal cartilage piercings hurt so much but mine was like a pinch of the ear. There was a fair amount of blood for some reason but no pain.
We thanked Shannon for the piercings and went on our way. All together it only set us back $50 dollars for the 2 of us including the jewellery! Our piercings have had no problems to date! I am definitely going to Cosmetics Plus Chermside for all my piercings now and I recommend anyone that lives in Brisbane should go there. The set up is very well done, it's clean, professional and they are very quick. They make the experience so much better by being friendly and not taking forever to just get in and do the damn piercing. You are free to give them a call or go in and see them if you have any concerns afterwards. Any of the rumours you here about Cosmetics Plus being dodgy, over look them they are completely false.
I love my new cartilage piercing, I've wanted one for quite a while and now I finally have one. I'm not supposed to have it at school, but its so god damn easy to hide anyway. I only have 5 piercings at this point in time (2 in each ear lobe and one in the cartilage of my left ear) because of school. If I could I'd have a few more, I'm considering an industrial on my right ear, getting my tragus done on my left ear and a labret piercing. I'm thinking about an inverted vertical labret otherwise known as an Ashley piercing as well, although the success rate for this piercing is supposedly very low. Only time will tell I guess!
