I went to the piercing studio with my friend not knowing whether I was going to get two conch piercings or two anti-tragus piercings. Once we got into METAflesh I decided on two anti-tragus' in my left ear as nobody in our area has one and I have never seen one except in photos. I wanted two because I love the look of two piercings together (I have two eyebrow piercings and hope to get two more piercings in my lip). We signed the forms about health and stuff like that and handed them in and then sat down on the comfortable leather sofas and waited for our turn.

I was up next. Before getting my new piercings I had two BCRs changed for a bar in my scaffold piercing. The piercer used a pen to mark three dots on my ear and told me I could choose either the front two or the back two to get pierced and how they would sit in my ear. I considered for about thirty seconds and then chose the back two as they would both sit at the same angle, whereas the front ones would have sat differently to each other. He then showed me the new needles he would be using and then got me to lay down. By this time I was wondering how much pain this would involve, I have had quite a few piercings (labret, eyebrow three times one rejected, ear lobes done myself and started stretching myself and scaffold) but had heard this one would probably be my most painful yet.
The piercer (I can't remember his name) pushed the needle against my ear and began the piercing, he got it through the outer layer without too much pain but then when he reached the inner layers and the back I experienced much more pain. After a couple of minutes the needle was all the way through and he got the ring to put in it. He began pushing the ring in but seemed to be struggling, after a minute or two he told me that my ear didn't want the ring in it, which seemed fair enough to me. He carried on pushing, and I was in more pain than when the needle went through, occasionally stopping to let me rest for a while, a tiring experience for both of us I think. After a long while I heard a POP and knew the ring had come through the other side, I sighed with relief as he put the ball into place.
Now onto the second where things started to go wrong. I knew what to expect now as he began pushing through the needle, that one went through much more easily so I thought this would be a much more straightforward process, I was mistaken. He began pushing in the second ring, causing me the most pain yet, but as with the first, my ear just didn't want the ring in it, he carried on for what must have been another quarter of an hour until he finally gave me a choice. I could either let him continue pushing this ring into my ear which he said he could eventually do or we could leave it for today and do it some other time. I chose the latter and he removed the needle and ring but then the bleeding started, so I remained in the room for another five to ten minutes waiting for the bleeding stopped. The piercer explained to me that I could come back and get the piercing for free next time, which I thought was great.
Finally, after about fifty minutes we left the room, paid and returned home on the train, the pain had almost completely gone by the time I reached home, just a small stinging feeling from the wind. The piercing is very easy to clean and isn't too painful to sleep on either, as it is slightly inside the ear, meaning I do not lay directly on it. I would definitely recommend META flesh to anybody living in the area as it is a very clean and friendly environment and I would never get a piercing anywhere else unless I was doing it myself. I still love my single anti-tragus piercing, it is one of my favourites and I can't wait to get the second one done. I would recommend this piercing to anybody, even considering the amount of pain you will probably encounter, it's worth it, even after my parents had a go at me and told me I have too many piercings and that I have a problem. It is amazing.
