As a little kid I got my ears pierced - like lots of other little girls.

So I was stuck with two boring ear piercings and that's as far as id ever got, my parents think piercings are for "louts" and people with no respect for their bodies. For example, their favourite saying is;
"If god intended you to have holes in your body, you'd have been born with them".
(I'm sure I'm adopted!)
Since I turned 13 I had wanted my lip pierced, but alas, my parents detested the idea. And each time the matter was brought up it resulted in huge arguments and alot of door slamming - mainly by me.
As soon as my 16th rolled around a month or so ago, I declared I was going to get my lip pierced.
Once again they protested, and I listened to them for once. We eventually came to a compromise, I was to get my Tragus, or "bit of skin near your ear" as they describe it pierced.
I researched alot on BME, and read other peoples experiences and disasters - etc. This really helped me make my mind up as to whether to get it done.
I showed my mum pictures of the few piercings I liked, and we finalised it to one of two piercings – Tragus & Anti-Tragus. She liked the Tragus piercing a lot more, so it was decided; I was going to get it done Saturday; which meant I had a week of plucking up courage ahead of me!
I had to find a piercer that was health registered and someone that didn't freak my dad out too much - as he was the one who was taking me to get it done.
I eventually got recommended a place called "The Inkmaster" its not too far away - about 5 minutes in the car - and a nice clean place.
My dad realized that he knows the tattooist, and so that spurred him on in his decision to take me down – whist I was getting pierced he could have his little reunion, which pleased me immensely, if he likes the place, that ultimately means I can go back without him panicking that I'm going to get pierced by a complete moron.
As I am amazingly afraid of needles, I had to work up alot of courage to ring the place. (I can't even go to the dentist without being overly reassured he will not come near me with a needle at all!) I got my money together and rang Tracey up.
The Tragus piercing would cost me £20. I was happy to pay for my lovely new piercing myself - after all, my parents were still a bit wary of me getting it done and I wanted to show my commitment to it.
After the short car journey I was getting jittery, but once I had a chance to sit down and look at the different tattoo flashes I calmed down and became more excited than nervous.
My dad signed the form for me and I handed over the money, Tracey told me to follow her through to her piercing room, and okay, by this time I was ready to chicken out.
She completely reassured me about the piercing and showed me the stuff she was going to use; I changed my mind whilst I was in there – from having my right ear done to getting the left done instead, so she cleaned my left ear and made a small purple dot. I checked it in the mirror and gave her the okay.
She kept reassuring me that it would be okay, and we had a small conversation about surface piercings and tattoos.
I had been told that some people heard a pop or crack as the needle passed through the Tragus; I found that I didn't hear a thing as she pierced me. I was completely pain free – Which was a huge relief!
Tracey numbed my Tragus and within 5 minutes she had pierced it and put the ring in, the only problem we had was with the ball. After it eventually sat in place she showed me my new piercing, and gave me a talk and a sheet about aftercare. I proudly walked out and showed my dad my new piercing, and surprisingly he likes it.
Who knows, might even get him to have a tattoo one day! - I can only hope :]
For anybody having doubts about getting this piercing I'd say just go for it. My piercing is only a few hours old and I'm already planning the next one!
