Okay, this piercing was directly after my rook piercing, so you can read that if you want to know more about it. But, if you don't already know, after much screaming and yelling, my parents (mainly my mother) let me get two non-facial piercings for my birthday. I decided on a rook and a conch. I am no stranger to piercings, or body modifications, and currently I have 8 on my ears and am getting a LOT more soon.

My right side, the one that just got the rook was really sort of throbby and numb, and I was a bit high on the endorphin rush. Sam, washed her hands again, got the ring and tools sanitized, and put on a new set of gloves. The ring she was using was a simple 14-gauge stainless steel captive bead ring, it had a really big diameter, and when I asked why, she said it was for the swelling, and I could downsize it later. I was fine with that, and said okay. Then she pulled the needle out of the sanitation pouch, and I noticed IMMEDIATELY that it wasn't the normal 14-gauge needle. I said "Uhhh, I thought I was getting pierced 14 gauge." And Sam said "You are. I'm just using a 12-gauge needle, then downsizing. It helps the cartilage heal faster." So, I said "Sure... ugh this is going to hurt more." And my trusty friend Sadie said "Oh stop being such a pussy." It's her job to "comfort" me in these times. Anyway, I laid down, and she marked up my ear, and again, to my mild discomfort, didn't show me the placement before hand. But she said "Breath" And pushed the needle in.
Okay, I wouldn't say it was the MOST painful thing I have ever felt, because it really wasn't, but I do remember it being a lot more painful than my rook. Probably because it was a bigger needle. But as soon as the pain was there, it was over. She slipped in the ring, and snapped on the ball. I really fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The ring was really big, but I knew it would look better once I got the right ring. I thanked Sam a lot and tipped her and paid and left. Sadie of course loved them, and my dad said they would be the last piercings I ever got ever (Yeah right). When I got home, I finally felt the soreness but I was completely happy.
The second day I had them, I decided to do a salt-water bath, and when I was soaking my conch, I kept accidentally bumping the ring on the bottom of the bowl I was using. It didn't hurt but was annoying. About a half an hour later, I noticed it was bleeding. It really didn't scare me, because obviously, it was only a day old, and would bleed if I bumped it, so I got a Q-Tip and cleaned it up. About 5 minutes later, while I was on the computer, I felt something wet on my neck. I wiped my neck and when I looked at my hand, it was completely covered in blood. Now I was slightly disturbed. I went into the bathroom, cleaned up all the blood, when I found out, it wasn't bleeding, it was almost gushing blood. If I cleaned my ear, within 15 seconds my ear would be covered in blood again. I heard that you apply pressure to the piercing, which I tried to do, but it didn't work at all. It was about 12 pm, so I couldn't call a piercing shop, and I had to hold a rag to my ear so it wouldn't drip all over my clothing. I searched all over bmezine, to try to find out what was wrong, all the while my ear constantly dripping. About 3 hours later, I took off the rag, and my ear was encrusted with dry/wet blood. It was late, so I got in the shower to clean up my ear. After being in the shower for awhile, my ear was still bleeding. I was thinking about taking it out, but I would have been SOOOOO sad. So I moved the jewelry back and forth in my ear, and all of a sudden, it just stopped. It didn't bleed at all for the rest of the night, and seemed suddenly fine. A few weeks later, I went back into Exotic Body, to downsize it, and to ask her about what happened. She didn't know either, and said it could have been a scab that got ripped open when I bumped the jewelry or something.
But other than that, my conch has been perfect, and I love it so much. I wouldn't downsize if I don't have to anymore, but the pain was moderate, but very short. So I highly recommend a conch piercing if you want it.
