In the past, I have gotten my ears pierced with a gun. At that time, I did not know it could cause damage to my ears. I was only twelve years old, I didn't know any better. My left ear developed a huge keloid which had to be removed with surgery twice. The surgery left my ear badly disfigured. I was so heart broken, because I thought there was no hope for me. I would see people with pierced lobes and I would get jealous of them. A few years ago, I attempted the piercing again with a gun. Can you guess what happened? If you guessed keloid, you're right. This time it was on my right ear. I thought I was going to lose it. I mean, am I cursed or what. So I recently had the surgery again, but this time my ear looked normal. It was a little swollen but that was to be expected because of the scar tissue.
A little insight into my background. I have been suffering from depression for awhile, and the way I dealt with my pain was to cut myself. I began thinking that there could be a better way of putting myself through this kind of pain. So I began searching on the internet and I came across the BME site. I was amazed at all the different piercings and modifications out there. See, I live in a very small town in Georgia where you don't see those types of piercings. I thought it would be cool to have something that was different from what everybody else around me had. I have always been kind of weird.
That's when I came across the tragus piercing and I instantly fell in love with it. I would go on BME site every chance I got to look at it. I couldn't wait til I was off from work so I could go get it. The day of my piercing arrived. I was so anxious and nervous I couldn't wait to go. When I arrived at the tattoo place which is called Bluz Tattooz (located in Milledgeville, Georgia thirty miles from where I live), I was beginning to have second thoughts. I didn't give in because this was something I've wanted for a long time. There was no turing back now. I was comfortable with this place because they did my belly button piercing a year and a half ago. I was completely comfortable with the staff. They are so nice, clean and very helpful.
After we discussed what I wanted, she had me to sign the paperwork, paid my $60 for both. I decided to get both my ears done at the same time. I waited while she got everything set up in back. The more I waited, the more I got nervous. About ten minutes of looking at different jewelry and pictures of piercings and tattoos, I was called back. There was this weird looking chair, which I know now is a dentist chair. I thought it was funny. Her husband, which is the owner was going to do my piercing. I noticed everything was sealed and sterile which made me feel so a little better. It was time to get started, so he marked the area of my right ear first and asked me if it was okay. Not knowing too much about this piercing, I said it was ok. I didn't know what was coming next. I wasn't told inhale and exhale and then he would pierce, he just did it! I never in my life felt so much pressure and pain. It felt like hours as the needle was going through my flesh. I didn't cry or anything like that, it was just intense. It was a good feeling. Then it was time to do my left ear, and it wasn't so bad because I knew what going to happen, but it was still painful. After the was done, I got up and looked in the mirror and I feel in love with it. I thought it was the cutest thing I ever saw. I was given the aftercare sheet, thanked him and I went on my merry way.
For the next couple of weeks, it was sore and tender and developed a little bump on the piercing. I was devastated. I could not believe this was happening to me again, but I hung in there. I kept up with the aftercare and did the soaks as often as I could. Eventually, the little bump went bye bye.
I have gotten my conch, anti-tragus, lobe, rook and daith pierced but that's another story. I recommend this piercing. If you want something bad enough, don't give up, hang in there. You won't regret it.
If you're ever in Georgia, visit Bluz Tattooz. They're great.
