Ever since I was younger I have always been interested in piercings. I currently have my navel pierced as well as three holes in each lobe. My first holes in my ear lobes have 0 gauge spacers and my second have 10 gauge spacers. One time when I was looking up Information on a nipple piercing, I came across a picture of someone with their tragus pierced. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it and I was immediately excited to get it pierced. It was original, beautiful and creative. I hadn't gotten a new piercing in almost six and a half months ago, so this would be a fun and memorable experience.

When I went home to ask my parents about it they both said I couldn't get it done. I was completely upset, but about a month later I asked my mom again if i could get it done. She said I could because she didn't want to hear me complain anymore. I was so excited. I just had to make sure my dad didn't find out, because he would never have let me get it done. I had heard that this was the most painful piercing that you can get on your ear, but never the less, I was already set on the idea of getting it done. Im fairly tolerant to pain, so I figured it wouldn't be too bad.

I chose to get it done at Wild Ink because that's where I got my navel done and I was more then satisfied with their level of cleanliness and attitude of the piercers. When I got to the piercing studio I told one of the people at the desk what I wanted and he told me that the room would be ready in ten minutes. After the back room was cleaned out, Barrie asked me to come back for my piercing. I knew there was no backing out now. It was for sure, I was getting my tragus pierced. My mom, my sister and my brother were all allowed to come back and watch. I was a lot more calm then I had expected, even though my sister was trying to scare me the whole time by saying things like "That's going to hurt so much, you should be so nervous". She has only had her lobes pierced, so she was busy laughing at me.

Barrie got me to lay down on their piercing bed, and he cleaned my tragus with sterilized equipment and cleaners. I trusted his work, not only because he was the one who pierced my navel, but also because he had pierced his own navel and done a few of his own tattoos. He assured me that this wouldn't be too bad, as far as pain went. He put the clamp on my ear after making dots to show the right place and asked if I liked where they were. I answered right away, and I was eager and ready to go. He asked if I was ready and began to shove the needle through my ear. I could feel the needle push through my tragus, but it wasn't too bad. I took a minute or so to get all the way through, but it went in. After the needle was in, it took him a few minutes to get the needle out because of the shape of my ear.

Everything was fine except for one problem: The jewelery wouldn't fit in. He tried for roughly ten minutes until he decided to get me a smaller ring. I was left on the table, wondering what went wrong, since he didn't tell me until after because he didn't want to worry me. When he came back from getting the other ring, he began to put it trough. he finally got the ring through, even though that took a good ten minutes or so. I only felt a bit of discomfort with the jewelery going through, even though he kept asking if I was alright, yet somehow the pain was unbelievably satisfying. After he got the ring through and the ball on, he told me that there was some difficulty and that it must have hurt twice as much as it normally would have because of the ring not fitting through. I was actually surprised at how little it hurt and Can't wait to get my left side done.

I took one look at my new piercing in the mirror and fell in love with it right away. I paid for my new piercing and walked out of the shop with a huge smile on my face. I was on an amazing high that no one could kill. My mom kept commenting on how brave I must have been to go through with something like that, but I have always been completely or somewhat fine with physical pain. It proves we're alive and able to choose how we live our lives. It was a unique experience and the piercing different from everyone else's piercings i knew.It was my choice to make, and my choice alone. I was the center of attention for a bit and I loved every minute of it. For anyone who is looking into getting their tragus pierced, I completely recommend it. It isn't as painful as it is put out to be and it looks amazing afterwards! People compliment on how good it looks all the time and I am always asked if it hurt. I answer that it only hurt a bit, just to sound tough.
